Foundation make-up is a game-changer. It evens out your skin tone, makes your face look fresher, and gives you that perfect, pang-pictorial finish. Wearing foundation also boosts your confidence; it can transform you from blah to beautiful in a matter of minutes.

But putting on foundation can be tricky. It can cake, crease, and somehow disappear from your face in the middle of the day. Once you get the hang of it, though, applying foundation can be a breeze.

Read on to find out the most common foundation mishaps and how to fix them.

1. PAGDA-DRY NG SKIN AFTER APPLICATION

Moisturizing your skin before applying foundation is necessary, especially if you have dry skin to begin with. This pre-make-up step creates a smooth and an even canvas for your foundation. It also prevents the product from clinging to the drier parts of your face.

If you still have dry patches after applying foundation, get a hold of some clear or untinted lip balm and dab it on the problem areas. The balm will instantly hydrate the skin without messing up your make-up.

2. CAKING OR PAGBUBUO-BUO NG FOUNDATION

Blending your foundation is important to avoid the dreaded "cake face." Dot the foundation on the middle of your face and, using a foundation brush or a beauty sponge, blend outwards from the nose to the cheeks, up the forehead, and then down to the jawline and neck. This keeps the whole effect softer and smoother.

Caking can also happen when you use too much face powder on the finishing touches of your make-up look. Use powder only where you need it — down the T-zone (forehead and the nose bridge) and under your eyes — for a more flawless coverage.

3. MALING SHADE

Test the product on your jawline before buying. You’ll know you have the perfect match if the foundation literally disappears after blending. It also helps to know your skin undertone, which is the color beneath the surface of your skin. You can have a warm undertone (may pagka-yellow, golden o peachy), cool (may pagka-pink or red), or neutral (a mix of warm and cool).

Most morena Pinays have a warm yellow undertone, which is best complemented by foundation shades such as Ever Bilena’s All Day Liquid Foundation in Olive.

A lightweight liquid product, Ever Bilena's All Day Liquid Foundation in Olive is buildable, and leaves the skin with a natural finish and a luminous glow. And the best bit: PHP200* lang! It also comes in three other shades that are suitable for those with a fairer complexion or pinkish undertones.

4. OILY OR GREASY LOOK

Foundation can sometimes cause oily or combination skin to become a bit shiny throughout the day, especially when the weather is extra humid. When this happens, pat the oily areas with blotting paper or facial tissue. This takes away the sheen without putting more product on your skin.

5. HINDI TUMATAGAL NA FUNDA

Don’t you just hate it when your foundation melts away by noontime or transfers to your clothes? To prevent this make-up mishap, use a primer on your face right before applying foundation. This gives your make-up something to cling to so it lasts for hours.

If you want your make-up to stay perfect the whole day, lock everything in place with a setting spray. Simply hold the bottle about eight inches away from your face then carefully spray, taking caution to avoid the eye area.

Start making foundation a part of your daily beauty routine by following these easy tips. For morena ladies who can’t seem to find their perfect match, try Ever Bilena’s All Day Liquid Foundation in Olive. This high-quality yet affordable foundation is lightweight enough not to cause caking, but buildable enough to cover skin imperfections.
