The demands of his singing career did not stop Jason Dy from obtaining a college degree.
On Tuesday, June 18, the grand winner of The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 proudly posted his latest feat: finishing his Bachelor of Music degree, major in Popular Music, at the Philippine Women's Univesity in Manila.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Jason through Star Magic publicist Thess Gubi. He began, "Sobrang saya kasi finally natapos ko din yung studies ko.
"Ang laking accomplishment, and I feel both excited and relieved na natapos ko din."
On why he pursued Popular Music, Jason explained, "Naka-3 courses ako and 3 schools, palipat-lipat kasi at that time hinahanap ko yung path na gusto kong puntahan.
"I finally settled on music kasi yun talaga gusto ko, e."
He added, "I really wanted to finish my music degree, and I found out through my voice teacher that PWU offers a major in Popular Music.
"Yun naman talaga yung in line sa profession ko, and it's really my passion."
It took Jason quite a while to finish his college studies since he had to grab some opportunities first regarding his career.
But he never let go of his dream of graduating from college.
He told PEP.ph, "Very important kasi sa akin yung education, and kahit na hinto man ako sa pag-i-school to pursue other dreams, plan ko talaga to return to my studies and finish my degree."
When asked about the reaction of his mom, Malou Dy, Jason said, "She is very happy and she's super proud."
How is he planning to celebrate his graduation?
"Simple celebration lang with family and friends. Kung kasama ko sila, ok na ako."
