By all appearances, celebrity beauty doctors Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho are one of the most enduring couples in the industry.
On May 20, they will be celebrating their 15th year of togetherness.
The couple was asked in the live stream program One Voice Pilipinas last Saturday, April 5, how they've kept their relationship strong and happy.
For Vicki, laughter affirms the relationship and fosters bonding between couples.
She said, "The most practical thing, I think, the reason why Hayden and I work... we've been together for 15 years, di ba?
"And then, of course, ang daming nagsabi na it will not work out, age difference, ang daming pinagdaanan, things like that.
"Pero ang pinaka-importante, I think, at least for him, we always manage to laugh. We manage to laugh and enjoy each other."
Vicki, being the emotional one, said Hayden's positivity and humor have been the perfect counterpoints to her "dramatic" moods.
She related, "May pagka-dramatic ako, may pagka-nagtatampo... I'm very easily hurt and, you know, I feel rejected easily. Adopted kasi, adopted.
"So with him, marunong talaga siya magpa-ikot, magpa-cute, mag-entertain na natatawa na lang ako sa drama ko."
For his part, Hayden talked about four essential building blocks that create great and lasting relationships.
He said, "I think ang pinaka-importante is faith. This is not our own. We are here as temporary inhabitants, kumbaga.
"Parang pilgrims, and everything really depends on God."
"Number two is the sense of right and wrong. Kailangan alam mo talaga, alamin mo yung tama, alamin mo yung mali.
"And you always calibrate your moral compass kung ano yung tama than yung mali. Kasi kung lahat yan gagawin nating relative, magkakagulo-gulo tayo.
"Ganyan nangyayari minsan sa politics, ganyan nangyayari minsan sa market place, 'di ba? Pwede ka ba mag-hide ng truth para ma-control mo yung situation? Hindi e.
"So kailangan yung moral compass mo..."
The third, according to Hayden, acknowledgment that one’s actions, both the good and the bad, have consequences.
Explaining, he said, "Responsible tayo hindi lang for ourselves but also for other people.
"And kung ano man yung ginagawa natin, yung decision na ginagawa natin, lagi yun may consequence.
"Minsan hindi natin makita yun, pero makikita natin in the future. Laging may consequence.
"Minsan hindi tayo yung tatamaan pero yung mga mahal natin sa buhay ang tatamaan."
Lastly, Hayden explained the importance of beneficence in a relationship.
He said, "Yung buhay natin, hindi lang para sa atin. Kailangan tumutulong tayo para sa ibang tao and that's the only way we can make our lives meaningful."
Vicki and Hayden tied the knot in Paris, France, on September 2, 2017, following their civil wedding at their home in Makati City last June 2017.
Vicki and Hayden's daughter Scarlet Snow is now five years old.
