Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto admits he barely has time for mom Coney Reyes—although they live in the same house in Valle Verde, Pasig City.
But he made sure to squeeze in a quick chat with Coney on her 66th birthday last Wesdnesday, May 27.
He relates, "Nagkita kami nung umaga, 'tapos nagkita kami nung gabi."
Were they able to have dinner together?
"Hindi, e. Nung umuwi ako kagabi, nakakain na raw siya. Nag-usap na lang kami nang konti. Pero hindi rin masyado," he tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during his first PEP Live appearance Thursday afternoon, May 28.
MISSING HIS SIBLINGS
Vico has two maternal siblings, LA and Carla Mumar.
They are Coney's children with former husband and former basketball player Larry Mumar.
Vico is Coney's only child with ex-boyfriend Vic Sotto.
The busy mayor says his elder siblings also did not get to celebrate with Coney because of the continuing quarantine.
"Siyempre sumusunod din kami... Kuya ko, Ate ko, pati mga apo niya—tatlo na apo ni Mama—hindi pa niya nakikita since quarantine.
"Malungkot din siya siyempre, pero naiintindihan naman yung sitwasyon.
"Kami nagkikita kami ni Mama, kasi nasa bahay ako ngayon, e.
STILL CONEY'S BABY
Although he didn't have all day for his mom, Vico posted on Instagram a cute birthday greeting for her.
It was a throwback picture of Coney cradling baby Vico in her ams, except the baby has the 30-year-old face of Vico!
His short but sweet message for Coney: "Happy birthday, Mama! I love you!"
In a separate post on his Facebook account, Vico also put out a throwback photo with mom Coney and his siblings during a family vacation abroad.
Using the hashtag #quarantinebirthday, Vico says, "Di pa nakikita ni Mama mga anak (maliban sa kin) at apo niya mula ECQ."
