Charmaigne, a 25-year-old online seller, achieved a major personal milestone when she became the first Filipino customer to purchase the iPhone 17 Pro Max at Digimap's midnight launch on October 17, 2025, at One Ayala in Makati City.

Leading dozens of eager shoppers who lined up for hours, Charmaigne’s purchase was the culmination of a three-year savings goal for her very first iPhone.
For Charmaigne, the phone was more than just a device—it was an alignment of the stars.
She is a huge fan of the K-pop group SEVENTEEN, and the purchase of an iPhone 17 on October 17 made the whole event feel fated.
"I've been a K-pop fan for SEVENTEEN, and it's a '17' series of iPhone," she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview at the midnight launch.
Her devotion even influenced her color choice.
She picked the orange model because her old phone’s wallpaper featured SEVENTEEN member Mingyu showing off that exact same device.

WHY SHE BOUGHT THE IPHONE 17
Charmaigne’s primary motivation for buying the latest iPhone goes beyond fan inspiration: she wants to capture precious memories.
She explained her investment to PEP: "Mostly naman ang tao bumibili dahil sa quality and camera.
"Sa social media, like keeping memories, siyempre yung picture matagal natin siyang mai-store and yung video.
"Yung moment kasi, parang minsan nawawala na sa memory natin yan, 'no? Kapag nakita mo picture, malulu-look back mo. Iyon yung reason bakit nag-invest ako."
Beyond personal use, Charmaigne plans to leverage the new iPhone for her livelihood as an online seller.
"Of course! Gagamitin ko rin po for online selling, para po mag-ROI," she said.
Charmaigne certainly saw an immediate return on her investment.
As the first customer in line, she was rewarded with a massive gift package of freebies valued at PHP37,000.
Digimap's generosity continued for other early birds: the next 29 customers received extras worth PHP14,000, and the 31st to 100th customers went home with gift bags valued at PHP8,000.
Despite having all these factors solidifying her intent, Charmaigne's decision to line up actually came at the spur of the moment.
"I think I grabbed the chance lang na makauna po. Kasi, that time, dapat matutulog na ako. Sabi ko, 'Ay, wag na, pag natulog ako mauunahan ako ng iba,'" Charmaigne recalled.
She even admitted she almost abandoned the line early on when no one else showed up. People only began arriving two hours after she did, and she found herself staying put.
"Yung katabi ko, although dumating siya two hours after ko... Akala ko walang dadating.
"Sabi ko, 'Ay, uwi na lang kaya ako? Wala naman atang pipila.' 'Tapos nagulat na lang ako nakapila na, so tumuloy na ako."
From that point on, Charmaigne committed to the line and pushed through. She never considered leaving, especially since their waiting space was comfortable.
She said, "Kasi okey naman yung [waiting area] malamig naman, comfortable naman. Hindi naman umuulan. Hindi kami nasa labas pumila. And worth the wait naman."
ON BASHERS
Charmaigne’s excitement was obvious as she opened her new phone, smiling through her mask, but she acknowledged receiving online backlash after a photo of her was shared by News5 on Facebook.
She maintained a positive stance, defending her decision: "I try to be positive with the situation. Hindi naman yearly nagpapalit ako.
"So depende pa rin naman yan sa tao kung bibili ka ng bago, kung ayaw mo or hindi, kung gusto mong um-attend ng event.
"Decision mo pa rin naman yun. So may positive, may negative [comments], bahala na. Wala naman ako ginawang masama."
