If you’re a member of the Singles Club on Valentine’s Day, huwag magmukmok.
Don’t also book a dinner for one, unless of course you want to feel out of place and ask, “Bakit siya, hindi kagandahan, may boyfriend. Ako, wala.”
Don’t buy roses, too, and have them delivered to your office. Hello, sinong niloloko mo.
Let’s not buy all the crap, okay.
First and foremost, it has become a marketing ploy for the malls, restaurants, hotels, and other establishments to increase their sales.
Second, it’s just one day.
Besides, there are so many things you can do to enjoy it.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked stars some words of wisdom to make you feel better.
1. Enjoy it with your family.
Jeric Gonzales advised, “Kung single, kung wala silang date e di mabuti sa family or parents o sa loved-ones i-spend nila yung kanilang Valentine’s Day…”
Juancho Trivino added, “Hindi naman kasi necessarily na Valentine is for dyowa o sa girlfriend.
"Puwede mo rin i-spend with your sister, your brother, mother, siyempre they would also want attention.”
2. “Magsimba tayo!”
Since February 14 this year falls on a Sunday, that’s another suggestion from Jeric.
3. “Hanapin niyo ‘ko!"
That was Juancho speaking.
Still single this Valentine’s Day, he will likely spend it with his mom and sister if walang makahanap sa kaya.
4. “Stay positive. Love will find you. Be still.”
Benjamin Alves paused before resuming, “I need a love life.”
5. “Be patient…Basta relax ka lang.”
Just because it’s the V Day doesn’t mean you’re mandated to find a Valentino or Valentina.
Glaiza’s reminder, “Basta ano, sa mga babae lalung-lalo na, let the guys woo you kasi yun talaga yung role nila, e. They’re warrior, they’re knight.”
Smiling, she added, “‘Tapos tayo ang role natin is to be captivating.
6. Explore and discover.
You won’t be ready for love unless you fully know yourself.
Glaiza remarked, “I-enjoy natin yung time na ma-explore natin o ma-discover natin yung sarili natin because the right time will come.”
Treat it like an ordinary day.
Juancho said, “Hindi naman kailangang may kasama sa Valentines.
“Puwede namang mag-enjoy mag-isa, and maging happy lang.”
8. “Don’t waste your money on flowers or food. Go watch the movie Deadpool.”
That’s an advice from StarStruck Season 6 Migo Adecer.
9. “Don’t think walang nagmamahal sa iyo kasi meron. Ako.”
Elyson De Dios, also an alumnus of StarStruck Season 6, continued, “May nagmamahal sa inyo, yung family mo."
10. “Hindi mo kailangan ng boyfriend!”
Kris Bernal underlined.
“Give more time to yourself, to your family, and God. There’s so much to give love to evryone. Hindi mo kailangan ng boyfriend or whatever so focus on yourself, so discover more, and you will love yourself.”
11."Hindi ako maganda pero choosy ako."
Bear that in mind each time you're asked, "Bakit ka single?"
Take it from Kris Bernal.
12. “Hanap tayo ng puwede mong maging partner…”
Hiro Peralta said you still have time to look for a ka-Valentine.
“Meron pang chance iyan hangga’t hindi pa natatapos yung February 14…kasi any moment, let’s say meron kang mapuntahang, may mga event kasi na, ‘O grab your partner,’ e, pa’no kung meron ding single?
“Meron pa iyan, kaya pa.”
What if wala?
Hiro answered, “Hindi naman porke’t single ka, hindi mo ma-i-enjoy ang Valentine’s Day. Puwede mo ring ma-enjoy with your family.”
13. “Watch a movie and eat lots of ice cream.”
That’s from Yasmien Kurdi.
14. Enjoy it!
She is not really single but Lovi Poe said, “Enjoy it while we can because, at some point, we’ll be tied down. Just kidding.
“No, no, no. Enjoy it, just enjoy it. There’s nothing wrong with being single anyway. It’s fun!”
15. Lastly, hindi ka nag-iisa, tama na ang drama!
