Derrick Monasterio had a post-birthday celebration on August 15 at the Lung Center of the Philippines. He turned 21 on August 1.

Derrick Monasterio did not have a grand celebration for his 21st birthday last August 1.

He just stayed at home and had dinner with his family because, "I had work the next day."

But on August 15, Derrick had a post-birthday celebration with the kids of the Lung Center of the Philippines.

The kids prepared special performances and birthday cards for the birthday boy.

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and some bloggers, Derrick revealed five of his resolutions and wishes now that he's 21.

1. No to complacency.

He actually learned this last year.

He said, "Sa mga tapings, di ako dapat nale-late at saka di ako dapat maging kampante sa mga bagay na gagawin ko.

"Halimbawa kapag kakanta ako, rehearse everyday. Di yung parang kahit kinakanta mo na to dati, kakantahin mo lang ulit."

2. Growth= Goal

The actor-singer shared with a laugh, "Sabi ko sa mga interview ko, gusto ko magka-concert, yung big time, tipong Araneta!"

He seems to be on the right track as Derrick is set to have a concert with Rocco Nacino, Aljur Abrenica, and Jake Vargas.

He added more goals, "Gusto kong mapunta sa Billboard sa Guadalupe, 'tapos gusto kong maging lead ng primetime [show]."

3. Finish school.

In his message to the kids, he said that they should study well.

Derrick has plans of continuing his Legal Management course in San Beda College.

"Kapag na-vacant po ako, natengga. Yun po talaga yung balak ko, mag-enroll. Bubunuin ko pa, mga 30+ units."

4. He has a constant birthday wish.

"Gusto ko magkaroon ng world peace sa earth."

Seeing the surprised look on the faces of the reporters and bloggers, he underlined, "Totoo yun, wish ko talaga yun tuwing birthday ko."

5. Make it a habit to give back.

Every year, Derrick has made it part of his birthday tradition to celebrate with kids.

He said about the kiddie party, "It's fulfilling in the sense that I also feel good that I'm helping them.

"For me, birthday is not just celebrating with friends, with your family, having food on the table. It's about giving back also.

"I've been fortunate this year and, maybe, my birthday is the only day that I can give back.

"Of course, this should be done every time, I should make it a habit to give back talaga."
