Vina Morales, Ken Chan, and more greet Kuya Germs on his birthday

Celebrities thanked the late Master Showman Kuya Germs for being their "tatay" in the entertainment industry.


Today, October 4, would have been The Master Showman German Moreno's 83rd birthday.

Fondly called as Kuya Germs, his rags to riches story has inspired Filipinos.

He's also one of, if not the most veritable star-maker in the showbiz industry.

Among the numerous celebrities he discovered were Ken Chan, and siblings Sanya Lopez and Jak Roberto, who despite their busy schedules, managed to make time to greet their "Tatay" via their Instagram accounts.

Part of Ken's message reads, "kahit wala ka na sa tabi ko ramdam ko at alam kong inaalagaan mo pa din ako."

"Mahal na mahal kita Master.Happy Birthday Tay! ????"

Jak, who started his career on Kuya Germ's Saturday late-night show Walang Tulugan, left a short but sweet note.

He wrote, "Happy Birthday Tatay, Thank you. We miss you."

Sanya's unplanned showbiz career also started through the said show.

The Encantadia star wrote, "Tatay, I will always remember that day when you made me part of your Walang Tulugan family.

"You told me something which I myself couldn't imagine will happen.

"Now, it's slowly happening. And I believe and feel that you're part of it."

She then thanked the late comedian, "Thank you Tatay, thanks for this opportunity. Promise I'll take care of it. Happy Birthday!!! Miss you tatay..."

For her part, Kapamilya star Vina Morales expressed her gratitude towards the TV host.

"Kuya Germs You are remembered on your special day, your birthday.

"I truly miss you and isa po kayo na naniwala Sa aking talento at naging bahagi ng aking 30 years dito po Sa showbiz.

"I'll be forever grateful for your love and never ending support, Mahal ko po kayo at kaming lahat na nagmamahal sayo ay sobra ka po naming miss na miss.

"Salamat po sa pagmamahal. We love you Master Showman"

Kuya Germs's, literally had a rags-to-riches story.

From mopping floors in the legendary Clover Theater in the 1950s, he rose to fame as a comedian, radio and TV host, producer, and starbuilder.

His biggest break was when he became the host of the noontime variety show, GMA Supershow, and becoming the creator, producer, and host of That's Entertainment, the show credited as the launching pad of some of the most-recognizable and respected stars in local showbiz today.

Aside from his credits as host, performer and producer in both TV and film, he also hosted and produced radio programs, like Walang Siesta on dzBB.

He died of cardiac arrest on January 8, 2016, after being admitted at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.
