Celebrity weddings are a momentous occasion for showbiz fans, but all the more for the celebrity couple who tie the knot.

When choosing someone to document their special day, it's safe to assume photographer Pat Dy is one of their top choices.

For a couple of years now, Pat has been the photographer celebrities trust to capture their once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Among the celebrity brides who received the service from “Team Pat Dy” are Karylle, Heart Evangelista, Bianca Gonzalez, Solenn Heussaff, Isabelle Daza, and, most recently, Anne Curtis.

But before diving in to the local wedding industry, Pat’s world revolved around fashion editorials.

The wedding photographer told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) through an email interview, “I started out in the editorial world shooting [for] Preview, Metro, Cosmopolitan to name a few.

“Then [I] shot weddings on the side.”

A bride then saw his editorial portraits for her wedding and loved the results.

From there, the rest was history.

SHOOTING THE MOMENT. Coming from an editorial background, Pat felt liberated by the spontaneous nature of shooting weddings, engagements, and other personal events.

He remarked, “As compared to shooting for ad agencies where you just follow the peg from the approved images, I love that I can be spontaneous in this field and play around with different editorial fashion concepts that will fit my couples.

“Whether it’s shooting for an engagement or wedding, I just love making real people look their best.”

When Pat is taking photos for a wedding, his first priority is to look for the right moments to capture.

“For weddings, moments are my first priority over anything else.

“The story has to be told and I have to be ready when a story unfolds by being discreet and unobtrusive.”

Some of these moments included a touching moment between Luis Manzano and Erwan Heussaff that Pat captured after the latter’s wedding ceremony.

Luis couldn’t contain his tears that Anne Curtis, his best friend, finally married the right man in the person of Erwan.

He also captured Iza Calzado’s happy tears when she got engaged to Ben Wintle.

And he snapped the moment Isabelle began to tear up when she remembered  her late father during her wedding vows.

For Pat, these are the moments he watch for.

“I love capturing the emotions of the family members,” Pat said.

“The details that they put time into, the stories that unfold behind the scenes.”

Meanwhile, for prenup shoots, Pat discusses with the couple the concept they want.

“I don’t force ideas that won’t look good,” he underscored.

“Everything has to fall into place where LOVE is shown through concepts as well.”

THE ULTIMATE HONOR. Even though celebrity weddings, engagements, and baptisms are exciting events for showbiz fans, these events are still personal milestones in a celebrity's life.

Thus, to be a celebrity couple's chosen photographer means earning their trust, and Pat has considered this a great privilege.

“They let you in their lives up close, and witness the biggest step to their next chapter.

“Involves a lot of trust that you won’t abuse the situation to your branding.

“Being trusted to be with them is the ultimate honor.”

Which celebrity wedding does Pat consider his biggest one to date?

“Considering that the most artistas who went that far to attend a wedding… The biggest one to date is Anne and Erwan’s wedding.

“It was a simple wedding, but the location was EPIC! Queenstown, New Zealand was breathtaking.

“From the church to riding the huge giant steamboat, [the place] was something different and unique for me.

“Best of all, you can really feel the love in the atmosphere of Anne and Erwan.
