Sky Quizon is the first to graduate summa cumma laude from the University of the Philippines College of Arts and Letters' Department of Speech Communication and Theater Arts.

Stephen Karl Quizon, also known as Sky, became an instant social media celebrity when his graduation photo went viral on Facebook.

Several Facebook pages uploaded his graduation photo, which has earned thousands of likes and shares.

Netizens certainly noticed his charming looks, but mostly they were awed by his 1.193 weighted average grade.

Everyone knows it's difficult enough to get past the state universe's entrance exams, let alone get high grades.

But Sky breezed through all that, and now he is the first to graduate summa cum laude from the University of the Philippines College of Arts and Letters' Department of Speech Communication and Theater Arts in Diliman, Quezon City.

SUDDENLY FAMOUS. The reaction of netizens was understandable, but no one was more surprised than Sky himself.

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) via Instagram, Sky admitted that he didn't expect his photo would go viral.

He told PEP.ph, "I actually didn’t expect that I, or my graduation photo, would go viral online.

"I am really happy and humbled with all the congratulatory messages and other kind remarks that I have been continuously receiving from other people’s comments on my various photos.

"To be honest, since my sablay photo was uploaded, my phone would not stop vibrating. Notifications just keep on persisting.

"Nonetheless, I am not complaining. I am just thankful to everyone who shows his/her appreciation to me."

How did he manage to get an uno in most of his subjects.

"I think my studies have always been my top priority," Sky said when asked how he was able to distinguish himself as a student.

The 20-year-old Tarlac-born student said he has never considered himself grade-conscious; he simply studied harder.

He said, "For as long as I can remember, I am the type of person who really puts his 101 percent to whatever he is doing.

"I push myself to the limits, and I really try to finish my requirements earlier than the deadline. I hate cramming kasi.

"Yung extra time ko, I spend with my family and friends who helped me and inspired me to work harder."

His guilty pleasure? Social media.

"When I’m not studying, I usually just eat (a lot) and hang out with friends and family. Mahilig din akong magscroll lang sa social media accounts ko."

ISKOLAR NG BAYAN. Speech Communication, however, wasn't Sky's first choice.

He revealed, "To be honest, Speech Communication was not my first dream. When I was in high school, I dreamt of becoming a great surgeon.

"However, unforeseen circumstances happened which made me realize that maybe being a surgeon was not for me."

"A certain heartbreaking event from the past made me remember of what I love doing and, at the same time, I excel in. I was led to communication.

"From elementary to high school, I joined a number of literary competitions, impromptu speaking contests, debates, and other speech communication-related activities.

"I am more than happy and blessed to have entered Speech Communication. To become an Iskolar ng Bayan is the best choice I have done in my life.

"It surprised me that there was more to speech communication than the competitions that I was accustomed to.

"Learnings were immense as I was transformed and honed as an Artista ng Bayan."

This Saturday, June 23, Sky will be delivering his speech for their college graduation.

"To know more about these learnings, I am delivering a speech on Saturday for our college graduation. I think the manuscript of my speech will be released."

This chinito cutie reminds students like him to never be afraid of failing.

THE DREAM. After graduation, Sky will be pursuing his bigger dream to become a TV host like his idols Luis Manzano and Robi Domingo.

Early this year, Sky made to the grand final of MYX VJ Search 2018. Two young women—Samm Alvero and Kaye Reyes— won the competition.

"I was one of the Myx VJ Search 2018 finalists. Sadly, none of us guys made it.

"But, yes, to be one of our country’s most acclaimed hosts has always been my dream.

"I am passionate on hosting and using my voice to speak on behalf of those who are silenced and continuously being silenced.

"I want to influence and inspire others to better whatever their endeavors and crafts are."

He ended, "I want to be next in line when it comes to hosting. Maybe, one day, I can be the next Luis Manzano and Robi Domingo of my generation."
