Therese Malvar had a galaxy-themed party to celebrate her 18th birthday last November 3, at Sequoia Hotel, Quezon City.
Therese officially turned 18 last September 16, but was only able to celebrate her birthday more than a month later because of her busy schedule.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Therese explained, "We started planning around July, but we postponed some meetings due to hectic schedules.
"Then we finally pushed through all our goals around October. Fortunately, we were able to execute the plans!"
THE PARTY
The GMA Artist Center talent said she was very involved in planning her birthday party.
She said, "I made a Powerpoint presentation for every part of what my debut should be. So I guess, that’s how involved I was.
"I’m really thankful to GMAAC and their events coordinator, Ate Rochelle Tuazon-Chavez, because she made my ideas possible—also to the whole team."
Therese also gave inputs on the design of her ball gown, and she collaborated with her stylist Chino Aguilar.
She added, "It was inspired by the night sky and the stars because I love the sky so much."
The result was a royal blue gown with star details and an layered ombre skirt from local brand Elize by Liza Padilla.
Meanwhile, her glam team included Rick Martell Calderon for makeup and Jessica for her hair.
Therese was escorted by fellow Kapuso talent David Licauco on her birthday.
"I actually just joked about this to the GMAAC handlers HAHAHA, I was just joking when I said that I wanted David to be my escort.
"And surprisingly, Ms. Joy Marcelo [her GMAAC senior manager] asked him, and he kindly accepted it. Emeged, kilig.
"I got kilig lalo na when I saw him on my debut HAHAA"
When asked what her favorite part of her birthday party was, Therese picked "the 18 candles," and exclaimed, "I loveee sincere messages."
The highlight of the party, however, was her dad's touching message.
She recalled, "My most memorable part was when my dad made a speech before dancing with me as my 18th rose, and ended it with, 'You’ll always be my baby girl.' I cried tons."
Therese's celebrity friends also came to the party.
Some of the Kapuso stars spotted at her debut were Rodjun Cruz, Janine Gutierrez, Ricky Davao, Miggs Cuaderno, Kyline Alcantara, and Barbie Forteza.
TURNING 18
PEP.ph asked Therese whether her parents have become more lenient now that she has turned 18.
The Kapuso actress said her parents were never strict in the first place.
She explained, "Just as long as I always do good... and go home alive haha! So I will always value that trust."
With regard to her biggest realization, the multi-awarded actress said, "I guess, I realize the importance of time even more as I grow older.
"Hopefully, I’d be even better at managing my time, my tasks.
"And hopefully, I’d be able to grow more as a person with the self-love that I'm rebuilding."
This motivates Therese to work harder, and achieve her goals.
"My main goal this year is for our teleserye, Inagaw Na Bituin, to be successful.
"And hopefully, I’d finally be able to buy a car now that I’m 18."
