Ang Texas-born Pinay na si Lizelle Lauron ang social media manager ng Dallas Mavericks at namamahala sa branding and perception ng nasabing NBA team.

Nagtatrabaho si Lizelle Lauron sa Dallas Mavericks bilang social media manager ng nasabing National Basketball Association (NBA) team.

Nagsimula siya sa kanyang trabaho noong 2013.

Si Lizelle—bagamat purong Pinoy—ay sa Dallas, Texas na isinilang at lumaki.

Bata pa lang ay mahilig na siyang manood ng NBA.

Nang maka-graduate sa University of Louisville sa kursong Bachelor's Degree in Communications minor in Sports Administration, naghanap siya ng trabaho sa iba’t ibang local sports teams.

DREAM COME TRUE ANG MAGTRABAHO SA ISANG NBA TEAM

Sa isang dance camp noong 2013, nag-apply siya ng internship position para sa social media ng Mavericks.

Nagsimula siya August ng nasabing taon. Kalaunan, siya ang naging social media coordinator ng team.

Tumutulong siya noon sa paggawa at pagmo-moderate ng lahat ng content—kabilang ang social media campaigns and promotions—para mai-post naman sa social media platforms ng Mavericks.

Limang taon siyang social media coordinator bago na-promote bilang social media manager—ang posisyong hawak pa rin niya hanggang ngayon.

Sa panayam sa kanya ng NBA.com na lumabas noong August 12, 2021, sinabi ni Lizelle na dream come true para sa kanya ang magtrabaho sa isang NBA team.

Aniya, “It really is truly a dream to get to work for the Mavericks and to work with an NBA team when so many people use sports and entertainment as an escape, and I have to see it as my job.”

Bahagi ng kanyang trabaho ang pagki-create ng content para sa iba’t ibang platforms ng Mavs.

Bilang social media team ng Mavs, may mga routine silang sinusunod gaya ng pagpapaalala sa fans ng schedule ng laro.

Kailangan din nilang makipag-ugnayan sa team kapag may practice ang mga ito.

Present din sila tuwing may laro para i-capture ang mahahalagang moment at i-share sa Mavs fans—partikular ang important plays during the game.

Kabilang din sa kino-cover nila ang outfits walking in ng team, locker-room speeches, at maging behind-the-scenes.

MEMORABLE WORK EXPERIENCE

Tumatak naman para kay Lizelle nang i-cover niya ang final game ni Dirk Nowitzki noong 2019 matapos ang 21 seasons nito sa Mavs.

Binigyan si Nowitzki ng tribute ng buong franchise. Naihatid nito ang team sa kampeonato noong 2011, at nahirang bilang NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) noong 2007.

Si Lizelle ang naatasang kumuha ng bawat galaw ni Nowtzki mula sa pagpasok nito sa arena hanggang sa pamamaalam, kabilang ang lahat ng post-game speeches mula sa limang idols nitong sina Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Detlef Schrempf, at Shawn Kemp.

"I got to be in the same arena with all these guys Dirk looked up to and they’re speaking all these great things about him, and I’m right here watching it with them.”

MAVS BEYOND BASKETBALL

Aminado naman si Lizelle na kahit super love niya ang kanyang trabaho, may pagkakataong nakararanas din siya ng burnout.

Pagbabahagi niya,“ Just like any job, you get stuck in the everyday routine.

"But something that snaps me out of it, what breaks me out of it, is getting to see a father and a son experiencing a game like it’s the first time.

"Or a lot of times pre-COVID, I got to meet fans dressed in their Mavs gear really early.”

Nabanggit din niyang malaki na ang pagbabago sa trabaho ng isang social media manager.

Aniya, noong 2013, mas malaya pa ang kanilang pagpo-post nang hindi sila nagwo-worry sa branding at perception ng team.

Ngayon, mas maingat na silang mapanatiling consistent, at kung paano mas mapagaganda at mas mapalalakas ang brand recall ng Mavs.

Nagkaroon na rin, ayon kay Lizelle, ang Mavs ng conscious decisions para sa inclusion and diversity.

Pahayag niya, “The Mavs are very empowered by women. There’s a lot of women in leadership roles, which is awesome because it wasn’t the case when I first joined.”

Ang Dallas franchise ay pinamumunuan ni Cynthia Marshall, ang first black female CEO sa NBA history.

May open-door policy din ang Mavs sa kanilang employees. Malayang nakalalapit ang interns sa managers.

Ang coordinators ay puwedeng kausapin ang kanilang CEO para magbigay ng suggestions.

Mahalaga ito para kay Lizelle dahil ang ganitong family-style environment ay katulad ng pamilyang Pilipino na kinamulatan niya.

Pahayag niya, “After being at the company now for eight seasons, it’s something that I really value. They really support diversity and different cultures, that was something that wasn’t really emphasized in the past, so that’s a huge reason why I love the Mavs.”

Para sa kanya, ang pagtatrabaho sa isang NBA team ay “truly an incredible opportunity.”

Dagdag pa ni Lizelle, “It’s a lot of fun. We’re winning a lot, so, it’s a really good time to be with the Mavs.”
