Heart Evangelista is "very sentimental" when it comes to jewelry.
At the press launch of her latest collaboration with a jewelry company on September 15, the wife of Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "I think it's really for every chapter.
"When I started to buy my own, I would reward myself whenever I did this project. I would save a little bit to buy this. That's how I started to build my collection."
Other jewelry pieces in her collection were given by her loved ones.
"In my collection, every piece has a story, actually. This was given to me by my dad, my mom, Chiz, ganyan. This was a gift, mga ganoon. I am very sentimental..."
Now, through her recent collaboration with Royal Gem, Heart puts together her love for art and fashion by transforming her paintings into jewelry.
The selection of paintings that Heart chose for the jewelry collection were from an exhibit she did in 2016. This exhibit had women as its main subject.
"I love women in my paintings," Heart says. "I felt that an image of a woman is relatable because it connects with the clients. A certain image you feel like you can connect to, you can relate to. It inspires you… so I really wanted it to be the girls that I painted."
Which jewelry piece carries her favorite story?
It's this conch shell cameo pendant (photo above, top layer).
"This one is my favorite story. I made it into a teardrop shape because parang tears of joy," Heart continues.
"This painting is actually really special. It's one of my smallest paintings.
"I was going through a lot of depression and anxiety. The painting originally has a lot of colors, so it kind of says how I'm very hopeful and I'm a very happy person despite my circumstance. I thought this was very special for me."
