Picking out what to wear to the office or on night out can be stressful for some people.
It gets a lot more confusing with fashion trends from the past decades making a comeback one after another—from structured silhouettes of the '80s to athleisure and grungy style of the '90s.
This is probably why most people go shopping for new clothes only to end up buying nothing.
Celebrity stylist Pam Quinones has observed, "Everything is there, that's why with the explosion of all these trends, people don't really know what the trends are.
"Sometimes, when you go to a store that has way too many trends or way too many things on the racks, you get out of the store not buying anything.
"You don’t know what you want anymore."
Pam is the founder of Qurator Studio, one of the most sought-after styling companies in the country.
She has dressed up some of the country's biggest celebrities, including Marian Rivera, Pia Qurtzbach, and Bea Alonzo, among many others.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) talked to Pam about styling and shopping tips on how to upgrade your OOTDs last July 4 at the launch of Ayala Malls' Stylist Closet at Greenbelt 5 in Makati City.
Her first tip: always consider the clothes you already have when buying out new ones. It's always okay to mix and match trends from different generations.
She explained, "We encourage people not to buy everything from one generation head-to-toe.
"Think of what they already have in their closet, who they are, what works for them, and what works for their lifestyle."
Pam said statement pieces also helps elevate a look.
She suggested, "Get pieces that sort of like, elevates a certain look.
"Perhaps, if they have the most fitting pair of jeans, what updates it? Prints, athleisure jackets.
"I want people to do that, get pieces that could update the items that they already have."
Pam also noted that it's okay to repeat outfits you wore from ten years ago as long as it still fits you perfectly.
The stylist told PEP.ph, "Whatever you have in your closet from ten years ago, if it fits well, wear it because you know it fits well.
"And you know that if it fits well, you’ll feel good in it. Hence, you’ll look good in it.
"Let’s say, a trend from 2009, like ten years ago, that’s been sitting at the back of your closet.
"But there’s a reason why you didn’t let that go. You remember wearing it and you looked good in it.
"The pants really fit you perfectly. If the fit is amazing, if it flatters your body type, then stick to it."
