Globally-acclaimed Filipino designer Francis Libiran was commissioned to design the official parade uniforms of Team Philippines for the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which will open on November 30, 2019.
As a fitting display of Pinoy pride, Libiran's designs give a more modern twist to the Barong Tagalog, the country's national costume. In keeping with the nationalistic motif, he used local fabrics and materials.
He gave a sneak peek of his elegant designs as early as July this year.
On July 21, he posted a pic of a Barong Tagalog with the sun embroidered on the right shoulder and with red and blue stripes accenting the collar.
Here's a video of the Barong Tagalog from various angles.
Libiran gained renown for his exquisite gowns commissioned by local celebrities, beauty queens, and even Hollywood stars.
His most recent projects include the competition gowns of model-actress Michelle Dee, who will represent the country in the Miss World 2019 pageant to be held in London, England, on December 14.
