OPM boyband SB19 teams up anew with fashion designer Chynna Mamawal for another project.
On April 21, 2021, Wednesday, the members of SB19—Pablo, Justin, Josh, Stell, and Ken—and Chynna gave PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the media an exclusive look at the group's limited-edition premium collection.
During the press launch held via Zoom, Pablo, the group's leader, expressed how grateful he is to have worked with such an amazing designer for SB19's first-ever fashion-related collaboration.
Pablo said, "I'd just like to say that we're honored to work with Miss Chynna.
"She's an amazing person, sobrang professional, sobrang open-minded din sa mga suggestions namin. That's why we came up with these amazing designs."
DISCOVERING SB19'S STYLE
Chynna, for her part, admitted that it came as a big challenge for her to create streetwear pieces since suits and gowns are her forte.
She recalled, "Streetwear is very new to me, and I have myself in this whole new world na streetwear and their music.
"It's very fun to do so I went to them one by one, and I asked them their color palette, kumbaga yung favorite colors nila. I took it from there."
Checking each member's OOTD posts on social media, and listened to the group's music were also a part of Chynna's design process.
Josh said, "We felt that Miss Chynna was really passionate about it. Talaga namang parang binigay niya yung time and yung effort niya para mapag-aralan kami."
He added, "For Miss Chynna, we really felt na talagang nag-research siya maigi, talagang tinatanong niya yung preference namin."
Stell threw in, "Sobrang open din niya para pakinggan kung ano yung gusto namin kasi itong gagawin namin project is our merchandise.
"Parang ambilis lang ng trabaho and sobrang very good din yung nasa side ni Miss Chynna kasi from our meeting, napakabilis po nilang na-produce yung product and mapakita and mapa-fit sa amin.
"From there, meron pong mga konting adjustment.
"Naging natural and smooth po yung batuhan namin ng ideas and wala pong naging major problem."
SB19 X CHYNNA MAMAWAL
Chynna made sure that the clothes she designed for SB19 are stylish, comfortable, functional, and cool for A'TIN members, the group's fan club.
She said, "In general, the whole collection of SB19 x Chynna Mamawala is all about streetwear pieces that are comfy, lounge luxe.
"Parang since we're all in a pandemic, I really wanted to create pieces that people can actually wear, na functional.
"If you want to go the grocery or if you want to just visit a friend or you wanna dance, or you want to work out or even sleep. So yun, that's the story behind this whole collection."
The main collection called the SB19 Premium WHAT?! collection comes in two sets.
"Set A, the color palette is more of the Philippine flag colors, which is a direct reference to the song 'What?' Because it means 'watawat.'"
Chynna later added, "Set B is more focused on them talaga. I want the pieces to be very personal and very them."
Chynna reiterated that they will only be producing a limited number of pieces, "These pieces are limited edition. So per design, we will only be producing a hundred pieces. We won't produce anymore."
Chynna also made an SB19 Woman collection composed of "14 silhouettes which are very feminine, sophisticated, and yet still very edgy. "
She also designed an SB19 Sporty Guys collection, which is composed of two sets of athleisure co-ords in black and in white.
For the price range, the sets are available from PHP1,999.75 to PHP7,999.75.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX?
Fans who will purchase the SB19 Premium WHAT?! collection have additional perks.
Placed inside a box, each set comes with a limited-number-count tag and signed postcards from SB19 members.
The signed postcards will also be included in the SB19 Woman box, but not in the SB19 Woman Jacket, Tennis Skirt, and SB19 Sporty Guys sets.
The merch will be available to the public for purchase on wearcasa.ph this Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 10 p.m.
