The evening gown competition is always one of the highly anticipated segments of the annual Miss Universe beauty pageant.
And this year, Filipino craftsmanship was on full display once again.
Several candidates of the pageant's 69th edition wore creations of Filipino fashion designers during the long gown preliminary competition.
The event was held on Friday night, May 14, 2021 (May 15 in the Philippines) at Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Here are the candidates who wore creations of Filipino designers during the pageant's preliminaries.
MISS PHILIPPINES
Philippine bet Rabiya Mateo is, of course, at the forefront of championing Filipino fashion at the Miss Universe 2020 stage. She shone brightly in her yellow Philippine sun-inspired gown made by Dubai-based fashion designer Furne One Amato of Amato Couture.

MISS ROMANIA
Miss Romania Bianca Tirsin looked gorgeous in her detailed column gown designed by no less than Dubai-based fashion designer Michael Cinco.

MISS CZECH REPUBLIC
Miss Czech Republic Klára Vavrušková slayed the stage in her dove gray Michael Cinco gown with multi-layered off-the-shoulder sleeves.

MISS BELIZE
Miss Belize Iris Salguero dazzled on stage in her electric blue gown made by Filipino fashion designer Jian Lasala. The gown was embellished with hundreds and hundreds of Swarovski crystals. In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Jian said it was one of the most intricate gowns he ever made for a beauty queen.

MISS CAMBODIA
Miss Cambodia Sarita Reth looked regal in her metallic blue gown by Filipino fashion designer Rian Fernandez. Rian has been designing gowns for Cambodian representatives to the Miss Universe pageant since 2018.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, May 15, 2021, Rian said his inspiration for the gown is the Sampot, also known as the national soul of Cambodia.
Part of his caption read, "The assymetrical trumpet gown is inspired with the Sampot also known as the national soul of Cambodia. The pattern of the bead embroidery is one of the Cambodian Legends, Garuda, which depicts power and royalty.
"The teal color symbolizes calmness which represents the cultural tradition of a friendly country. The ornamentation of the gown is fully hand embroidered with sequins, rhinestones, swarovski crystal. This piece definitely calls for a celebration to Cambodian pride!"

MISS CAMEROON
Miss Cameroon Kossinda Angele made sure to leave a lasting impression as she glided onstage wearing a custom gown by Benj Leguiab IV.
