In the video, the 28-year-old model-TV personality said her Lola Betty was her biggest inspiration and the reason she decided to join Miss Universe Philippines pageant.

In the caption, Katrina shared the story behind her lola's vintage photo.

She wrote, "As I promised myself, my Lola, my family and my supporters, here is my 100K post that I’ve been waiting to share with you all [emoji]

"Back in 1976, my Lola flew for the first time to the US. Her destination: San Francisco, California. She was attending a wedding for her eldest daughter.

"She wore an elegant pink outfit, a neck scarf, and as always she carried a blanket with her wherever she goes. [emoji]

"My mom even remembers that day because she was grabbing on my Lola’s skirt begging her to stay [emoji].

"The whole family was crying, although they knew that she was coming back after the wedding. But part of them knew Lola always wanted to fly, and achieve bigger things for her family."

Katrina also recalled one of the greatest lessons she learned from Lola Betty.

She continued, "My Lola always told me 'Always find your own path and focus ka lang apo,' and up to this day, I carry that with me. Just like she carries her blanket, I will always carry my Lola’s words with me. [emoji]

"As I move forward to pursue my dreams, I do not want to forget my roots, and I always want to be thankful for those who were part of my journey. I wanted to recreate this moment that was important for my family. [emoji]"

Toward the end of her post, Katrina thanked bag designer Mark Palabrica of Iloilo-based bag brand Aton Ini and Davao-based fashion designer Raymond Umpa for her outfit.

Katrina wrote, "I also want to pay it forward, so that others can also achieve their dreams. [emoji] We had @raymondumpaatelier, a new and small business owners based in Davao recreate my Lola’s suit for me. It fit perfectly, and my family was in tears seeing these photos.

"At the same time, the bag recreated is custom made by @theatonini, made with abacca leather and crafted by mananahi queens in the mountains of Iloilo.
