Much to the surprise of GMA-7 actress Athena Madrid, also known as Rere, her OOTD at the Kapuso network's SparkleSpell Halloween party has caused quite a stir on social media.
Athena did look stunning in her Marimar-inspired outfit at this first-ever event of GMA-7 that was held last October 23, 2022, at the Xylo in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Marimar, portrayed by Mexican superstar Thalia, was the title character of the popular Mexican telenovela aired in the Philippines back in the 1990s and was remade by the Kapuso network twice starring Marian Rivera and Megan Young.
On PEP.ph's (Philippine Entertainment Portal) official TikTok account, Athena's video has received over 125,000 likes and more than 3 million views since it was posted last October 28, 2022.
She told PEP.ph, "Actually, nakakatuwa and nagulat din ako, hindi ko in-expect na ganun yung reaction."
PEP.ph caught up with Athena at the launch of the clothing brand Human in collaboration with Netflix's Stranger Things last Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Sanctuary in Poblacion, Makati.
She revealed in this exclusive interview there were negative comments in her social media timeline about her Marimar outfit, but these were overrun by positive ones.
She said, "Ayun nga, sobrang nakakatuwa yung comments ng mga tao.
"Siyempre hindi maiiwasan, may mga bashers pa din ako nakikita kasi ugali ko magtingin ng mga comments e.
"Pero mostly naman sa mga comments, good feedback."

RURU'S REACTION
Athena revealed it was actually a last-minute decision to dress up as Marimar at the Kapuso Halloween party.
The Kapuso actress said she wasn't really planning to attend the party because her religion forbids celebrating Halloween or dressing up in scary costumes.
But Athena and her brother Ruru Madrid decided to go and hobnob with GMA-7's big bosses and their fellow Kapuso stars.
She said, "Honestly, hindi naman dapat ako aattend kasi bawal sa amin yung mga Halloween parties kasi INC kami, INC member kami.
"But then naisip ko, hindi naman ako mananakot. Kaya good idea rin yung Marimar-inspired na costume.
"And get together din yun with friends, with bosses, sa buong GMA. And good thing yun para sa akin bilang artista kasi marami akong makikilala."
Asked about her brother Ruru's reaction to her sexy outfit, Athena said it was something every younger sister could relate to.
The former StarStruck VII contestant recalled, "'Pagkakita niya sa akin, sabi niya sa akin, mag-jacket daw ako!
"Ayun agad yung sinabi niya sa akin, 'Mag-jacket ka nga!'"
Even then, Athena thanked her team for helping her with her Marimar look.
Athena's styling and makeup were done by Justine Navato. She wore a custom dress by Jerome Villanueva. Meanwhile, her slicked-back hair was courtesy of Aries Manal.
Athena said, "Nag-thank you talaga ako ng marami sa team ko kasi sila talaga yung nakaisip nun.
"Actually, wala akong idea kung ano yung isusuot ko. Na-stress ako kasi nga nasa lock-in taping ako e.
"So parang mabilisan na pag-iisip yun. So nanghingi ako ng tulong sa makeup artist ko, which is si Justine Navato. Siya rin ang nag-style sa akin, lahat na."
HUMAN X STRANGER THINGS
Meanwhile, PEP.ph also did some stalking at Human x Stranger Things' launch.
Athena was accompanied by her boyfriend Brix Ramos at the party.
PEP.ph spotted Unang Hirit host and Start-Up PH actor Carlo Tingcungco.
Also at the launch were social media influencers, among them were TikTok content creators Mark Baranda, Gav Chebat, and Kenn Dayandayan.
