Iza Calzado on repeating outfits: "I rewear a lot. Because sayang, ang mahal ah! What are we expecting people to do? To buy so much and spend on things that hindi naman tayo pakakainin ng damit na to? Pag ikaw ba nangailangan ng pera, anong sasabihin ng sapatos?"

Iza Calzado sees no issue at all with the idea of recycling outfits

In fact, at the Cosmopolitan Philippines' Women of Influence 2024 recognition dinner, where she was given The Inspiring Voice award, she wore a recycled dress.

This event took place on March 21, 2024, at Origine restaurant, nestled within the Brittany Hotel in Bonifacio Global City.

The dress code for the occasion was "sparkly, iridescent attire."

Iza said about her outfit, "This is just a reused dress!"

She explained, "I rewear a lot. Because sayang, ang mahal, ah!

"What are we expecting people to do? To buy so much and spend on things that hindi naman tayo pakakainin ng damit na to?

"Pag ikaw ba nangailangan ng pera, anong sasabihin ng sapatos?"

She came to this realization when she contracted COVID-19.

"Galing na ako dyan. Noong nagka-COVID ako, sabi ko, 'Ano ngayon yung mga sapatos ko? Para saan pala sila lahat?'

"So, you know, you just have to have enough. And I learned that the hard way. Alam mo yun, yung parang through the years."

Iza further revealed to PEP.ph that she first wore the dress while she was pregnant with her daughter, Deia.

The 41-year-old actress also mentioned a miscommunication with her stylist, likely about the event's date.

"I forgot to book a stylist! But it's great.

"Actually, we just cut the length, and like, I used this dress, I think when I was pregnant.
And this has been inside of my closet.

"And then, I forgot, we had a miscommunication, I didn't have an outfit, and I looked at my wardrobe, and I'm like, 'Puwede na ito.'"

Above all, Iza was delighted, feeling that her dress had achieved a Return On Investment (ROI).

"You know what, it's great because I got it ROI-ed.

"Hindi lang sya iridescent, but it's sparkly. So nag-iridescent, medyo ayos na.

"So we cut this tonight, and then wore it with different shoes, and I'm happy."
