The #FreeTheNipple movement, supported by celebrities like Dua Lipa, Doja Cat, Kendall Jenner, and Florence Pugh, is still not widely accepted.
Going braless remains taboo.
But not to Jasmine Curtis-Smith although she understands why others feel uncomfortable about not wearing a bra.
"I guess awkward for many because culturally din, we are very conservative," she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview last May 20, 2024.
The interview took place during the grand opening of UNIQLO's store at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The 30-year-old actress continued, "So parang losing that layer of what we think is a protection or support feels kind of funny at first.
"Kasi nga, parang nakakapanibago, wala yun.
"And natatakot tayo, baka may bumakat or baka hindi enough yung support, hindi kakayanin, lalo na for women who have a bit of a bigger breast size."
Despite these concerns, Jasmine is aware that many women share her sentiments about the discomfort of wearing bras.
She said, "The padding can be too thick or the underwiring is uncomfortable.
"So minsan, kapag luma na rin yung bra, or I guess hindi maganda yung quality, tumutusok siya sa skin.
"So hindi rin siya comfortable, lalo na if you wanna lie down and lounge for the next 20 minutes, 30 minutes, tatanggalin mo pa, para lang maging komportable ka."

That being said, Jasmine suggested a better alternative to going completely braless: opting for "bra tops."
Sharing from experience, she said, "Ako, I live in my bra tops, I swear!"
Jasmine swears by bra tops, emphasizing how secure and comfortable they make her feel.
She explained, "Kasi dati, we would use anything na may type of inside bra for underwear lang.
"But this one kasi, for us women, you know, we like to be hassle-free. So, this one, no need na to wear a bra.
"And ito na yung outer garment mo na rin. Ito na rin ang outerwear mo.
"So, it's really perfect for summer, for errands, for yoga, working out, or just pag-grocery mo, puwede rin siya."
Jasmine added, "I think it provides the perfect support, and not just that, but mas comfortable na siya.
"So, ano talaga, yung transition of not wearing a bra to wearing a bra in a day, mas smooth na.
"Alam mo yun, hindi mo natatanggalin, tapos hahanapin mo, 'Ay, lalabas ako.' Or, 'Ay, may nag-doorbell, kailangan ko magsuot ka yung bra.'
"So, this, perfect, as in, all-in-one mode."
