Cristine Reyes prefers timeless and polished styles over bold and flashy trends.
For her, the ability to re-wear clothes multiple times is a key consideration before making a purchase.
"I'm not into trendy style, I'm more into the classic ones," she tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during an interview on November 20, 2024, at the grand opening of Andrea Tetangco's atelier in Makati City.
Cristine adds, "So you can keep it for a long time."
Highlighting her commitment to sustainability, the celebrity mom points out that the dress she wore for the event had been worn multiple times.
"I wore this many times already, this is not the first. So I like it, I really like it.
"I like the clothes that I can wear after a while, you know. This can last me until like, whenever, until it's okay."
CRISTINE REYES ON REPEATING OUTFITS
Although celebrities are often expected not to repeat their outfits, Cristine has never considered doing so to be a fashion faux pas.
She states, "I don't believe that. I don't believe that if you're a celebrity, you can buy clothes you must wear one time lang."
For Cristine, reusing outfits is not only very sustainable, but also a way to maximize the value of one's purchases.
The actress explains, "I don't think you should [buy clothes to wear only once] because I think it should be sustainable.
"It's more, for me, I believe that, you know, you should wear clothes as many times as you can. And make the most out of your money."
CRISTINE REYES: THE ART OF REWEARING
When asked for tips she picked up on her fashion journey, Cristine advises choosing clothes that you truly love and can envision wearing multiple times, ensuring you get your money's worth.
"I think, I just learned to keep clothes that I like and love," she tells PEP.
"And I noticed, even if it's not designer ones, even if it's you know, kahit Zara, or basta yung mga ano lang, hindi luxury, I still keep it if I love it.
"And the quality is still there. So it's not because I'm intentionally doing it, it's just because I just know what I want and what I love.
"And I really keep it and I still wear it."
Even motherhood has not restricted Cristine from wearing various types of clothing.
On the contrary, it has helped her better understand and appreciate her personal style preferences.
"It's just that the choices that I want is suitable for me. Like it emphasizes my, you know, the looks, the physical."
Reflecting on her preferences, she adds, "I think I also like neutral colors. It's not so flashy. Sometimes you do need flashy or vibrant like red, but I own most of the time my neutrals."
With this in mind, Cristine values Andrea's creative designs that seamlessly blend creativity with timeless elegance, perfectly aligning with her personal style ethos.
"It's very feminine, very chic, very classy. I think the pieces that I got from Andrea, especially like this one.
"This is Andrea's, so I think it will last until like, I can pass it on to my daughter. And so that's what I love about Andrea, that it's always creative."
