Philippine representative Angelica Lopez embraced the mysterious world of Filipino folklore for the national costume competition of Miss Grand International 2026.
On October 7, 2026, a total of 79 delegates, including Angelica, showcased their respective cultures through elaborate national costumes during the competition held at MGI Hall, Bravo BKK in Bangkok, Thailand.
Instead of wearing the usual traditional Filipino attire or a costume inspired by local festivals, Angelica took a different route by portraying a mangkukulam, a figure deeply rooted in Philippine folklore and mythology.
The striking ensemble was designed by Patrick Isorena, with custom heels created by Jojo Bragais, founder and president of Reina Filipina. The presentation was brought together through the creative direction of Vhee Co.

Angelica gave fans a closer look at her national costume through a series of photos posted on Instagram.
The photos were taken by Mark Neto Diaz, while Ariana Umali handled Angelica's hair and Mak Tabuzo took charge of her makeup.

In her Instagram caption, Angelica shared the inspiration behind the costume, highlighting its connection to Filipino heritage and storytelling.
She wrote: "ANG MANGKUKULAM [emojis]
"Born from the shadows of Philippine folklore, where mystery meets mysticism and ancestral wisdom lives on.
"This is more than a costume. It is a tribute to the stories that shaped our imagination, the traditions passed down through generations, and the powerful spirit woven into our Filipino heritage.
"Ancient lore. Mystical power. Filipino soul. [emojis]"
