One of the highly-anticipated segments in the Miss Universe pageant is the evening-gown competition.

Aside from showing the best design and fit, the candidates get to show their regal bearing and grace.

In alphabetical order, here are the 12 ladies who stunned in the glamorous gowns they wore at the 65th Miss Universe preliminary round.

Miss Brazil Raissa Santana wore a creation of Alexandre Herchcovitch, who also designed fashion model Gisele Bundchen’s glitter gown at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Raissa's gown had floral appliques embellished with hundreds of precious crystals from Bohemia, Czech Republic.

Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar wore an Alfredo Barraza fully-beaded beige gown, which had a sweetheart neckline and a multi-tiered skirt.

Miss Curacao Chanelle De Lau wore a flowy teal gown with a sparkling top.

Miss France Iris Mittenaere picked a yellow-gold sequined number which flaunted her curves.

Miss Germany Johanna Arcs donned a light blue lace serpentina gown.

Miss Hungary Veronika Bodizs looked fresh and fab in her blush ball gown by Mero Peter.

Going for less crystals and sequins, her gown's form-fitting silhouette and multi-layered skirt highlighted all her assets.

Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw was effortlessly elegant in her choice of a black strapless ball gown by fellow Indonesian Ivan Gunawan.

Miss Mexico Kristal Silva's gown was inspired by her name. It had crystals, and it was in silver.

Miss Nicaragua Mariana Jacoby donned a gorgeous sequined red gown with a flowy cape.

The deep v-neck line and thigh-high slit accentuated her strong points.

Miss Philippines Maxine Medina wore an emerald green fringe gown by Rhett Eala.

Her choice of color deviated from the usual whites, champagnes, reds, and blues, making it a standout during the competition.
