Two rare colored diamond earrings in the Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels & Noble Jewels collection were auctioned separately, and sold to one buyer for $57.4 million (P2.85 billion).
The Fancy Vivid Blue and the Fancy Intense Pink pear-shaped diamond earrings named after the Greek gods Apollo and Artemis “are among the purest, chemically, of all diamonds,” according to Sotheby’s official website.
The 14.54-carat Apollo blue was sold for over $42 million (P2.09 billion) and the 16-carat Artemis Pink was sold for $15 million (P745 million.)
Both diamonds are described to be “unfathomably rare” and their “very existence… is wondrous.”
The Sotheby's website did not disclose the identity of their buyer.
