Sunshine Cruz has perfected the art of being glamorous without emptying her wallet.
In fact, "I only shop once in a while," said the Kapamilya actress.
And apparently, she shops wisely, avoiding the luxury items: “Pambili ko na lang ng needs para sa kids.
“I used to have Hermes Birkin and Kelly, but I don't think it’s practical para sa isang single mom like me, kaya I’ve disposed of them."
With one Hermes bag having a price tag of at least PHP500,000 and its resale value possibly going higher, the actress decided to sell them.
She added, "Marami namang nagmamahal sa akin at nagreregalo ng bags, okey na ako dun."
She shared the one luxurious thing she won’t scrimp on is her “pamper time,” which means, “gym time...facials and treatments, or South Salon time for me.”
With actor Cesar Montano, the 40-year-old mom has three daughters to whom she is passing her good spending habits.
The eldest, Angelina, is 15, Samantha is 13, and the youngest, Chesca, is 11.
All three are honor students at De La Salle Santiago Zobel.
According to Sunshine, she has trained them to be disciplined and not to be “maluho.”
"I always tell them to buy things we need and not what we want.”
But on her birthday last month, Sunshine was greeted by her daughter Sam with this message on Instagram, "You always work hard for our needs and even sometimes our wants and for that you are such a great mom."
Touched, the proud mommy explained, “Pero kapag siyempre special occasions or matataas ang grades, palaging may reward ‘yan from me."
In a previous interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Sunshine had said, "Sometimes, I could be a spoiler if they deserve it, but I could also be strict."
But she added that she is confident “they’ll grow up to be good people naman because I always talk to them.
“Parang barkada, we’re like barkadas, and I think it's working naman."
And to her daughters, Sunshine is simply the "greatest mom can anyone could ever have."
The Wildflower actress turned 40 last July 18.
