Apart from Solenn Heussaff's exhibit Kalsada, she also has a fashion collaboration, dubbed Lahi, with her sister Vanessa and fashion designer Mia Arcenas.
Lahi is a collection of oversized embroidery jackets that features Philippine designs and patterns.
Solenn told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), “Lahi was an art collaboration with my sister Vanessa and fashion designer Mia Arcenas.
“A bunch of jackets we collected and we have vintage from France, vintage from stores in Spain, and we just sort of vamped them up to show that you don’t need to kill the old to have something nice.
“Because nowadays, people just try to do modern and they don’t know how to appreciate what’s old.
“Which is why we worked with vintage clothing, and we kind of revamped it with indigenous materials."
At first glance, they look like designer jackets, but Solenn's visual elements were very Pinoy.
“...All the drawings were made by me and my sister, which are interpreted in embroidery by Mia’s factory.
“They are all based on Filipino something. We have Filipino food, Filipino sayings…
“Being just a proud Pinoy and being happy at the moment amidst what’s going.”
This was Solenn’s “fun way” of rekindling her love for fashion, an industry which she was initially a part of.
