The much-anticipated Bench Body fashion show returns!
As the local fashion brand celebrates its 30th anniversary, Bench gears up for their “biggest” and “boldest” fashion spectacle yet called Under the Stars.
The hottest and most in-demand celebrities from both major TV networks will gather to put on another tantalizing and seductive Bench Body fashion show at the SM Mall of Asia Arena this Saturday, November 18.
But before the main event, let’s take a look back at the major fashion highlights in the past that have made the Bench Denim and Underwear show a crowd-pleaser.
Kapamilya-Kapuso team up
Ever since its inception back in 2000, the Bench Denim and Underwear fashion show has become the ultimate playground to see our favorite idols from all corners of the industry come together for a hot and sexy night onstage.
It was the only runway where fans get to feast their eyes on the toned and chiseled bodies of their favorite stars who strut down the ramp wearing nothing but underwear.
The abs, the butts, and the bulges
That said, fans go haywire whenever their favorite male celebrity walks down the runway wearing the skimpiest briefs imaginable.
The likes of Tom Rodriguez, Dennis Trillo, Zanjoe Marudo, Paulo Avelino, Enchong Dee, Gerald Anderson, and Richard Gutierrez have made fans lose their minds as they walked the ramp in their undies.
But nobody brought the cheers up to the highest of decibels more than Rafael Rosell, Diether Ocampo, Dingdong Dantes, Coco Martin, Jake Cuenca, and Wendell Ramos.
Wendall had always been one of crowd favorites as he never disappointed the screaming legion of fans while displaying his body onstage.
But nobody takes the extra step more than Jake when he takes over the runway.
In 2014’s The Naked Truth, the Kapamilya actor left little to the imagination as he wore almost nothing on his last outing on the Bench Body stage.
Playing with temptation
Leave it to Bench Body to tease on people’s hidden desires.
Aside from the stripteases from our favorite hunks on the ramp, celebrities are unafraid to get naughty for the show.
From seductive exchanges and sexually-charged kisses to provocative gestures and full-on naked appearances, members of the audience are left breathless.
Take it from 2006’s Bench Fever when former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Keanna Reeves walked side-by-side with seasoned actor John Estrada.
Keana got to her knees as they took center stage and teased the crowd as she planted a kiss on John’s leg, just a few inches away from his crotch.
Then there was Rafael Rosell’s show-stealing moment at the 2008’s Bench Blackout show.
The lights went off when Rafael reached the end of the ramp.
When the lights turned back on, the LED screen revealed the actor-model standing buck naked with his hands covering his private bits.
With majority of the industry’s big-named stars headlining the fashion show, expect that the Bench Denim and Underwear fashion show would have its own string of controversies.
In fact, Bench CEO and founder Ben Chan admitted earlier this year that he was hesitant to produce the denim and underwear show this year because he was still haunted by the controversy from 2014’s The Naked Truth.
Coco Martin unwittingly played a part in this circus-themed segment when he walked out on the runway fully-clothed, and he brought in a woman in her underwear wearing a leash on her neck.
The female foreign model walked on the stage in an animal-like manner, pulling off acrobatic stunts in between.
Netizens called out on the segment’s offensive portrayal of women.
Bench had to issue a public apology.
Three years later, Ben Chan has not forgotten the controversy.
