Kris Bernal's favorite luxury brands are Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, and Gucci.

Kris Bernal turns to retail therapy whenever she's stressed out.

A quick look on her Instagram account would reveal some of her latest purchases—from designer labels to local brands.

And in a quick chat held last Tuesday, January 30, after her PEPtalk Live interview with Rocco Nacino, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) learned more about Kris's shopping habits.

Even before she entered showbiz, shopping has been the pastime of this 28-year-old Kapuso actress.

Kris recalled, "Hindi pa ako artista nun, but parang I always see shopping as my therapy, alam mo yun, as a stress-reliever ever since I was a teen.

"So mahilig talaga ako mag-shopping and lagi ko talaga mahilig i-shopping puro mga damit. As in gusto ko pa-iba-iba mga damit ko.

"So inaasar ako ng mommy ko dati na, 'Hindi ka naman si Kris Aquino. Ba't ka pa-iba-iba ng damit araw-araw e hindi ka naman artista?' So medyo natamaan ako nun."

Luckily, she has been working nonstop since she won the Ultimate Love Team award with Mart Escudero in Starstruck's batch 4 in 2007.

"Ngayon na artista na ako... Siyempre, I'm under her household, sa pag-aalaga ng parents ko, ng mommy ko.

"So ngayon kasama ko pa rin siya [mom] sa bahay, so 'pag may nakikita siyang binibili ko or or nagsha-shop ako, 'pag may nakikita siyang bagong gamit, hindi na niya tinatanong.

"Kasi alam niya na ayun nga, hilig ko talaga, and alam niya namang pinaghihirapan ko din so hindi niya na kinukuwestiyon ngayon."

Luxury bags and shoes are her current obsessions.

"Like for example, after Impostora, parang pagod na pagod ako or drain na drain ako, maghahanap na naman ako sa internet ng puwedeng kong bilhin para gumaan yung loob ko, e.

"Parang, 'Hay, ang sarap talaga ng trabaho ko e kasi puwede akong mag-shopping ulit!'"

However, Kris's all-time favorite is "Hermes talaga, as in! Grabe yung splurge ko, e."

Though Kris is fond of luxury items, the lady knows the value of investing her money.

She explained, "Pinipigilan ko na rin yung sarili ko kasi just one bag or one pair of shoes is very pricey, e. Ang mahal lang talaga e.

"Minsan pag inisip ko, 'Shocks, pang-down [payment] ko na sa kotse yun, pang-down ko na sa lupa yun or sa condominium.

"So kailangan talaga may nagre-remind sa akin  from time to time na, 'Hey invest on something better na for a lifetime, and yung value umaangat."

Currently, Kris has two business ventures—a burger stall called Meat Kris and an upcoming Korean restaurant called Seoul Mate.

SHOPPING TIPS. Kris is not an impulsive shopper.

Before she makes the purchase, she would visit stores and compare prices.

"Sobrang tagal ko mag-shop, as in. Sa isang store, siguro mga an hour.

"Gusto ko kasi nakikita ko lahat, e. Gusto ko naiisa-isa ko and, at the same time, tinitignan ko rin yung mga sale items.

"Kaya walang gusto sumama sa akin pag nagsha-shopping ako."

Recently, she discovered the wonders of online shopping and having a personal shopper.

She told PEP.ph, "I have a personal shopper na online din, so sa kanya talaga ako nag-o-order."

Sometimes, if the item is cheaper to abroad, she would shop online and use her sister's address in the U.S.

"But then, kasi yung sister ko nasa States, e, so pag mura siya sa U.S., pinapabili ko siya sa sister ko.

"And then online, dun ako bumibili ng shoes and bags ko 'tapos shini-ship sa sister ko 'tapos 'tsaka na lang ishi-ship dito."

When buying from an online seller, beware of fake goods.

Kris elaborated, "Sa Instagram, sobrang daming sellers ng designer brands. Make sure na it's authentic and it's a legit seller.

"Minsan kasi may mga sellers na kahit ga'no kadami yung followers, ang taas-taas na but then may mga fake items pa din.

"Make sure na authentic yung binibili mo kasi it's really pricey."

Does she buy from resellers?

The leading lady nodded, and gave more tips.

When buying from a reseller, ask for "the receipt, with box, and complete with accessories and tags."

She added, "Dun mo rin makikita yung authenticity, e.

"You really have to double check the bag, yung stitches, kasi makikita mo rin sa stitches nung bag if it's fake or authentic.

"Dun din sa logo, kasi once you buy something really expensive, hindi sila nagkakamali. It's always clean.

"Yung gawa nila palaging pulido so 'pag may nakikita ka nang problema sa stitching, sa logo, and yung color, yung feel ng leather, dapat pinapa-authenticate mo na yun."

Kris makes this extra step of "finding an expert" whenever she's buying second-hand luxury items from online resellers.

"Minsan bumibili ako ng second-hand sa ibang tao, but before I get it, before I pay, dinadala ko muna siya sa expert na nag-o-authenticate.

"And then if I found out na it's really authentic, binibili ko talaga siya. So dumadaan talaga siya sa matinding proseso kasi it's no joke, e. Mahal din siya.

"Whether it's brand new or second-hand, pinapa-authenticate ko siya kasi ayaw naman nating maloko di ba?

"Sobrang daming fake talaga around, as in sobrang daming fake na nagbebenta."
