Dra. Vicki Belo to bashers of her nakakabata OOTDs: "I want to dress to make me happy. It's not for other people."

Celebrity dermatologist Vicki Belo says clothes are her mood enhancer: "It's a fun thing. When I'm sad, I put on a happy color then I feel better."

Vicki Belo, 62, is one of the country's most stylish women.

A quick look at her Instagram feed will show her designer ensembles from head to toe.

Some of her favorite brands are Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Emilio Pucci, Moschino, Hermes, among many others.

Vicki said she has always seen clothes as a "mood enhancer... a fun thing."

She added, "When I'm sad, I put on a happy color then I feel better."

The celebrity beauty doctor talked to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the launch event of Vice Ganda and Bang Pineda's collaboration last June 4, 2018.

Dra. Vicki and her husband, Dr. Hayden Kho, are both passionate about fashion.

"I love clothes more than jewelry. I really love clothes, and Hayden and I are the same.

"We're having so much fun fitting clothes. Like today, we're kinda dressed alike. It's kinda like a costume."

She knows that some people think her OOTDs are not age-appropriate.

"I cannot say na I dress for my age. Usually, that's what a lot of people are saying.

"Like now, may butas-butas yung pants ko. So parang... I want to dress to make me happy. It's not for other people."

She feels flattered when some people can't guess her age.

"Parang if I meet you and you don't know who I am...

"Let's say I meet a foreigner, they don't know who I am.

"They don't know I have a practice, they don't know how many years or how my kids are grown.

"They actually cannot guess my age. And that's the way it should be.

"They can say, '40 or 50, I don't know how she looks.' Parang ang wide ng gap.

"Kasi people will peg you once you're known, so make yourself happy."

STYLE TIP. Most women her age hesitate to dress up and explore different looks.

Most of the time, they'd go for classic designs.

Vicki encourages women to play it up a bit, and it does not have to show your age.

"Dressing is one of the ways to stay energetic and young," she said.

"Don't dress your age and feel your age and parang your body should still be fit, you should work out.

"Age is just a number. Sabi ko nga, people shouldn't know your age."

The beauty doctor added, "Dressing is one of the easiest ways to make yourself confident, make yourself happy.

"Basta keep yourself fit, every thing is about maintenance. Huwag mo pabayaan ang sarili mo."

Does she get affected by negative comments about her OOTDs?

"I usually don't read naman. Nakita ko the other day parang, 'Naka-shorts ka pa, parang you're too old for shorts.'

"Parang ako, 'Ha? Okay.' Naba-bother ako kasi let's say, there are a thousand good comments.

"And then there's one bad comment. That will stick, di ba? So sometimes, I just don't read na lang.

"I just tell my staff to read 'tapos if there's anything I should know, then they'll tell me.

"Yung mga thank you, the good ones, I thank them naman."
