Does Dra. Vicki Belo consider the price tags of the clothes she's buying?
She may be the owner of a multi-billion-peso beauty empire, but the answer is yes.
At the launch event of Vice Ganda and Bang Pineda's collaboration last June 4, 2018, she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "If it's too mahal, I won't buy anymore...
"There are prices na case to case."
But still, her walk-in closet is every fashionista's dream, and has stylish pieces from her favorite brands Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Emilio Pucci, Moschino, Hermes, among many others.
She continued, "There are brands like Dior na sobrang mahal na.
"But yung mga Gucci, fun-fun and it's affordable, but they raised their prices yata by 20 percent."
This Gucci crystal-trim jersey V-neck dress costs $2,700 (or PHP143,200) at American luxury department store Saks Fifth Avenue.
It was similar to the dress that Fallon Farrington wore on the series Dynasty.
She usually puts the brands of her OOTD posts on Instagram. Does she always wear branded clothes from head to toe?
She replied, "...I like to mix and match something local and reasonable with something more expensive."
Here's a John Hererra dress, which she paired with Prada shoes.
Vicki has always been in love with clothes for as long as she can remember.
When she was younger, she hardly repeated outfits because they had a dressmaker at home.
She told Philippine Star's Bea Ledesma in an interview held in 2010, "My mom wouldn’t let me buy anything from a brand, because she thought it was the stupidest thing.
"When I wanted to buy a Lacoste shirt, she said, 'Hija, that’s a five-dollar shirt with a 25-dollar patong.'"
So when the beauty doctor started earning, she went "crazy" buying designer clothes.
Back to her interview with PEP.ph, the mother of three said, "Since I was young, I spend more on clothes than I do on bags or shoes or jewelry.
"Parang I'm happy if you give me a nice outfit than give me earrings na diamond.
"Parang ang layo, di ba?"
But she has learned to pause a bit, and remind herself, "Don't spend too much."
What is her shopping limit?
Vicki laughingly answered, "I won't say, secret!"
