Filipino-German model Maureen Wroblewitz is hoping that another Filipina will win in the latest season of Asia's Next Top Model.
Last month, it was announced that two Filipina models—Adela-Mae Marshall and Jach Manere—were among the 14 official contestants of Asia's Next Top Model Cycle 6 (AsNTM 6), which will premiere on August 22 via the FOXlife Channel.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Maureen gave her assessment of the Philippine bets.
She said, "They're definitely strong models, they've modeled before.
"Adela, I've known her..."
She and Adela are being represented by Prima Stella Management in the country.
The 20-year-old beauty continued, "I think she started modelling when she was 18 as well, like me.
"I feel like she's a strong model, and Jach is a strong model.
"And I definitely think that we have another chance this year."
What's her advice to this year's batch of contestants?
Maureen said, "You should definitely prepare for anything.
"You should prepare mentally and physically because it's a hard competition.
"There can be girls who are gonna hate on you like with me.
"There can be lot of challenges that can really get to you and your emotions.
"You won't be able to see your family, so you just really have to be prepared.
"So focus on yourself, and if you really believe that you can do and you're strong enough then you can do it."
Is she going to make an appearance?
The Filipina-German model teased, "You'll have to see and watch if I'm there and not."
A YEAR AFTER ASIA'S NEXT TOP MODEL
On June 28, 2017, Maureen bagged the highly coveted title, making her the first Filipina to ever win the competition.
She told PEP.ph, "It's definitely a lot busier and I'm still getting used to everything.
"Of course, with everything going around, I still want to be humble and grounded.
"I still spend a lot of time with my family and all that so I'm trying to keep every thing together.
"It's been busy, but I'm still the same person."
Among her prizes was a three-month contract with Storm Model Management, which officially started last February.
Actress Emma Watson and Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo are just some of the big names the Chelsea-based modelling agency represents.
When asked about her experience with them, Maureen answered, "I remember I was just really like nervous because they represent a lot of big models.
"It was nerve-wracking, but they're super nice. They're really nice to me when I was in London.
"They're very welcoming, they're not snobbish or anything. They're super nice. I just felt really good being there."
About the modeling industry in London, she said, "It's just really different comparing London to like the Philippines.
"I feel like there's so many different beauty there, and they love faces that look unique and all that."
She added, referring to how the British value time, "There's kind of a difference there... They're very strict when it comes to that.
"If they tell you they start from 9 a.m. to like 3 p.m. or something, it would be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or you'll stop even earlier."
Is she going to try acting or hosting soon?
"Hosting and acting, I'm thinking about it. With acting, I would love to try acting, but as I always say, modelling is still the focus.
"But I'm definitely open to other things."
