GMA-7 actress Heart Evangelista has always wanted to design jewelry, and she has finally taken that wish off her bucket list.
Heart was tapped by the Cebu-based jewelry brand Royal Gem Philippines to design a four-piece limited edition capsule collection—composed of bracelets, necklace, and earrings with interchangeable charms—that was released early this year.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press, the 33-year-old fashionista shared the inspiration behind her designs.
Heart narrated, "It's a bracelet called the 'Affinity' bracelet. We just sold out, actually, two days ago, which, I was very surprised.
"It's very unique, delicate. I'm actually wearing one, the cross and the heart.
"It's also nice 'cause it's affordable. It's real diamonds and gold so it's a good buy... something that you can wear every day.
"It's actually a friendship bracelet so you can buy it with your friends, something like that."
Heart also revealed her plans to release new designs for the brand towards the end of the year.
She said, "There will be about three more collections that I'll be launching with Royal Gem."
And more can be expected from this multi-faceted Kapuso star.
"I'm coming up with a website. I'm also launching my clutch bag line.
"A YouTube channel, I'm also doing that."
PEP.ph caught up with Heart at the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 9 at the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel in Resorts World complex, Pasay City.
Heart's love for jewelry was sparked by her parents, Reynaldo and Cecilia Ongpauco.
She told the press, "My mom was always very into jewelry so I guess I got that from her, like half of my collection would be from my mom."
Two of the early pieces of diamond jewelry she received from her parents were a pair of two-carat heart-shaped diamond earrings from her mom on her 12th birthday and a three-carat diamond ring from her dad on her 18th birthday.
More than their monetary value, the Kapuso actress believes a jewelry piece imbued with memories and emotional investment makes it priceless.
"Of course, it is. It's timeless, it's something that you just borrow and turn over to the next generation.
"It's definitely not just money investment but, you know, it's a memory that you keep for your loved ones."
And like her parents, Heart has put some of her investments in valuable pieces of jewelry.
