Her addition to the Wendy’s Philippines family also came at a timely moment, as the fast-food chain ushers in what it calls a fresh new era.

For Wendy’s Philippines CEO and President Joey Garcia, bringing Caprice on board as a brand ambassador felt like a natural fit from the very beginning.

"Before we even actually took Caprice as our brand ambassador, she was already a fan of Wendy’s," Joey shared in an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

"In one of the PBB episodes, I think she mentioned how much she loves Wendy’s iced tea."

He continued, “And I think that started all the conversation about her and us being part of this brand love. That’s important.

"We cannot just bring someone in when they don’t even have an attachment to the brand. It was easy for her. It was natural for her to be part of Wendy’s."

Meanwhile, the event marked a significant milestone for the fast-food chain and held special meaning for Joey, as Pampanga is his hometown.

Joey elaborated: "It's actually a blessing to me more than intentional because when we were heading to 100th store, we have three stores actually that we're about to open and I said, 'Whoever goes first probably will be the 100.' But this one came out first.

"So I said, parang blessing siya talaga kasi our intention is to get something really big in Angeles. Kasi alam mo, from Pampanga ako.

"Pangalawa, I think it's about time that Wendy's really somehow be promoted in Angeles. Wala tayong store sa Angeles na... so this is really the first store, aside from the Clark...

"So ito yung unang-unang store natin that's really come out of Clark."

Part of the brand’s pivot includes refreshing its restaurants with a new look and embracing an updated color theme.

The Angeles City branch now features a more vibrant, youthful design in the brand's distinct blue color. It also boasts giant LED walls inside the store, along with a mural that highlights Kapampangan culture.

According to Joey, the Angeles City branch is the first in Asia to adopt the new design, following Wendy’s Australia market.

"We are using the same look and feel for our new stores and then the old stores that we have, we're renovating them.

"We are actually updating their design to make them feel and look like this.

"We feel na iba yung, ano, iba yung feel pagpa-lunch mo, di ba? More fresh, more yung vibe. Even the atmosphere, the way you actually feel is completely different from our old store.

"Hindi na siya boring. Hindi na matanda."

He added, "Kasi they were very careful before. But now, yung mga bata, they're looking for something more more vibrant...

"So we thought, why do we have to keep using the old design? So ginawa namin ito. And our partners from international allowed us."

Explaining the decision to embrace blue as the brand’s main color, Chris Conway, Wendy’s managing director for Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (APMEA), shared, "There's actually a Wendy's blue. If you look at Wendy's... it's the original store here. You can see it was blue and Wendy always wears blue.

"So we decided that with all the... difference we have with fresh food, we need to look different as well. So we thought we'd embrace blue."

When asked if other countries would be adopting the new design, Conway confirmed, "Philippines is one of the first, but we'll be rolling this idea across Asia and the Middle East. And I hope in the Philippines we'll have many more as well."

WHAT'S NEXT?

Following the milestone opening of its 100th store, Wendy’s Philippines is setting its sights on further growth.

Joey shared that the brand is continuously expanding, with plans to explore more locations—this time focusing on areas in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

The CEO said, "This year, we will open stores. We're finally going to Cebu. So Vis-Min is our next market, or next area to expand.

He continued, "To me, that's really another milestone because everyone is telling us, 'Mag-open na kayo sa Cebu ...'

"And we've been, we were very careful, but now we're ready. So I think that's something very exciting."

Joey also promised that the brand will continue to innovate—not only in terms of store design and aesthetics, but also through continued updates and improvements to Wendy’s food menu.

"We will continue to be very open to a lot of innovation, not only in our stores, but also in our menu.

"We wanna make sure our Wendy's will be separate from normal fast food.

"And that's what we promise, more fresh. Hindi, yung real, real fast food. Hindi yong fast food lang talaga. That's what we're trying to do."
