Nono’s Comfort Kitchen & Bakery makes a strong case for dining in.
At its branch on Mayflower Street in Mandaluyong City, the homey atmosphere and the friendly store manager greet us as soon as we step inside.
When she asks about our order, we ask for her recommendations instead.

Homestyle Fried Chicken
The dish comes with two generous pieces of boneless fried chicken.
One is coated in a sweet sriracha glaze that tastes divine, while the other is served plain.
The chicken is crisp on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. For the best bite, dip it in the sweet sriracha sauce, then in the gravy. The sweetness and saltiness work well together, adding another layer of flavor to the chicken.
Honey and ketchup are also served on the side.
Served on a charcuterie board, the dish also comes with tender and tasty dinner buns, thick fries, and, lastly, cuts of corn in the cob covered in parmesan cheese, which I found uninspired.

Roasted Beef Belly
Slices of tender, deeply browned beef rest on a bed of traditional mashed potatoes.
The meat is flavorful, but the dish remains mild, with nothing overpowering the beef.
For the best bite, spread a little horseradish on the beef, then add the gravy.
The gravy’s saltiness and the horseradish’s tang bring out the meat’s flavor.

Roasted Beef Belly is flavorful wothout being overpowering.
Tuna Salpicao
Tuna Salpicao possesses the strong combo of tanginess and saltiness, which pairs well with steamed rice.
You can tell that the fish is fresh, with none of the fishiness that can sometimes come with seafood.

Truffle Cream Pasta
Nono’s truffle pasta is one of the most flavorful I’ve tasted.
It lives up to its name: rich and creamy, with the distinct earthy flavor of truffle in every bite.

Shrimp El Diablo
Like the Truffle Cream Pasta, the noodles are cooked al dente.
It’s a familiar tomato-based pasta with a noticeable kick of heat, making it a good choice for anyone who likes a little spice.

Chocolate Oblivion
Nono’s signature Chocolate Oblivion is a rich, decadent chocolate mousse cake—and the dessert that started it all.
Owner Chef Baba Ibazeta Benedicto first made a name for herself with classic desserts.
Chocolate Oblivion, named after her father, became a favorite among her customers. She eventually opened Nono’s in his honor.
Lemon Torte
This white lemon cake has a generous filling of sweet and zesty lemon curd, along with cashew nut and meringue.
It’s a dessert best shared—a small slice is enough to feel like a treat.

Nono’s menu blends Western favorites with familiar Filipino dishes, but the experience goes beyond what’s on the plate.
The homey setting and warm service make it the kind of place you’d want to visit again.
