Neri Naig learns how to bake while waiting for the arrival of her first child, Baby Alfonso.

Neri Naig Miranda chooses to keep herself busy while waiting for the arrival of Baby Alfonso anytime soon.

On Instagram, she wrote, "Ayaw ko kase ng walang ginagawa at baka mainip ako at ma-anticipate ko yung sakit ng labor kaya gusto kong busy lang."

She later asked fellow moms, "Kayo nung kabuwanan na, ano ang pinagkakaabalahan niyo bago manganak?"

Making the most out of her free time, the wife of Chito Miranda had a one-on-one baking session with Chef Jo Alcantara of Kokijo Homemade Cakes & Pastries.

Neri learned how to make oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

She also tried baking a two-layered Chocolate Blackout Cake with Chocolate Ganache.

She capped off her baking session with fresh fruit tarts.

Neri remarked, "First time kong gumawa ng tarts. So far, gustung-gusto naman nila sa bahay.

She added, "Nagtabi na nga ako para sa asawa ko para matikman niya bukas."

Neri also tried baking her hubby's favorite Mango Chiffon and Black Forest cakes.

In case you want to try baking yourself, the Star Circle Quest alumna shared her recipe for chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting.

Part of her caption was, "May napanood kase ako sa Food Network na parang ang sarap-sarap ng cupcakes na gawa niya kaya nainggit ako, hehe!"

According to Neri, here are the ingredients:

1/2 cup (42g) unsweetened natural cocoa powder

3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour (spoon & leveled)

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

2 large eggs

2 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100g) packed light brown sugar

1/3 cup (80ml) vegetable or canola oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 cup (120ml) buttermilk, room temperature.

Procedure:

"Kung walang buttermilk, 2 cups and 1/4 teaspoon na vinegar pinagsama, wag haluin."

For the frosting: "1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature, 4 to 5 cups (480-600g) confectioners' sugar, 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, salt to taste, and sprinkles."

1. "Preheat oven for 180C."

2. "Ilagay yung cupcake liner sa muffin pan. Set aside."

3. "Make the cupcakes: Whisk the cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl hanggang maging smooth. Set aside.

"In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil, and vanilla together until completely smooth.

Pour half of the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Then half of the buttermilk. Gently whisk about 5 stirs. Repeat with the remaining wet ingredients and buttermilk."

4. "Pour/spoon the batter into the liners. Fill only halfway to avoid spilling over the sides. Bake in batches for 18-21 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting."

5. "Make the frosting: With a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter on medium speed until creamy, about 2 minutes.

"Add 4 and 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, cream, and vanilla extract with the mixer running on low. Increase to high speed and beat for 3 full minutes."
