Burger was the automatic choice of Kris Bernal when she ventured into food business.
Along with pizza, she said it's her comfort food.
So during the planning stage of her restaurant Meat Kris, she had a patty-making session with Chef Perry Choi.
Kris also saw to it that she won't get fat eating her burgers.
"It’s not too heavy din naman especially if it’s just cheese burger kasi yung flavors naman, yung ingredients ng patty namin, walang nakakataba.
"Dinesign ko talaga siya na gano'n, ayaw ko kasi ng maalat na patty."
One more thing she's proud about her patties, “Ang goal namin is hindi na kailangan ng ketchup..."
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to chat with Kris during our PEP eats shoot held at her burger joint on Roces Avenue.
Just how hands-on she is as the owner?
Smiling, she said, "Ako iyong gumagawa sa bahay bago ako umalis ng bahay lalo na kapag wala akong work.
"Or mommy ko, tinutulungan ako gumawa ng patties sa bahay 'tapos dini-deliver dito.
“Talagang from raw siya galing, lahat ng patties namin delivered fresh every day, and handcrafted lahat, sinusukat namin.
“Isa-isa talaga naming ginagawa yung mga patties.”
Dos she eat burger everyday?
She has recently set some restrictions on her diet, but she admits to getting tempted.
“Mahirap kasi kahit ako yung gumawa, gustung-gusto ko siya.
“Hindi ako nagsasawa, pero ewan ko gano'n yung effect sakin nung recipe na ginawa namin.”
Now here are Kris’s favorites:
Cheese Bernal (mayonnaise, cheese sauce, fried mozzarella, gouda, cheese, patty, lettuce, and tomato)
PikaCHOI burger (patty, onion rings, bacon, and a special homemade barbeque sauce)
Dream, Believe, Survive (bacon, mushroom, cheese, patty, tomato, lettuce, and ham)
Since she wanted everything to be personalized, she got the names of the burgers from her past shows and even co-actors.
