Elha Nympha has a new look.
The Voice Kids Season 2 champion spent the quarantine creating a "new version" of herself.
This included losing over 29 pounds during the first four months of the lockdown.
In her YouTube vlog posted on July 8, 2020, the 16-year-old singer revealed her motivation behind the transformation.
Contrary to what people believed, it was Elha's personal choice to diet and exercise. Wanting to lose weight had nothing to do with social media.
She asserted, "Nagpapayat ako para iyon sa sarili ko and gusto ko lang na magkaroon ako ng new version of me.
"Iyon lang ang gusto ko mangyari and, siyempre, para maging healthy din tayo.
"Nilubus-lubos ko ito kasi nga, kapag medyo tumanda, medyo mahirapan na ako mag-diet, magpapayat."
ELHA'S FITNESS JOURNEY
In the same vlog, Elha showed the timeline of her weight-loss transformation.
Elha showed a photo of herself from her "last gala" on March 7, 2020.
She was "141.9 pounds" at the time.
On March 26, Elha officially began her diet.
The Voice Kids talent documented her fitness journey through mirror selfies, which she later tagged as "belly pics."
Elha posted her first belly pic on April 30, one month after she started her diet.
The young artist said she lost 13.9 pounds, weighing in at around "128 or 125" pounds.
Her only cheat day that month was on her birthday, April 16.
In the months that followed, Elha continued to document her progress through belly pics.
As the month of June started, Elha decided to level up her weight-loss journey by working out her abs.
The Kapamilya performer would select workout videos from YouTube and collate them in a video playlist.
Elha also did "planks, plank twists, semi-situps, squats, and boxing."
The young singer also worked up a sweat by dancing routines found on the social media app TikTok.
Three weeks into her abs workout, Elha was happy to see some progress.
On June 29, she noted that she could tuck in her shirt without feeling conscious or uncomfortable about it.
By July, Elha was at "113 pounds."
Elha became particular about the amount of food she would consume in a day.
Sweets had always been a major no-no in her diet, especially since she's a singer.
Then she added carbohydrates, specifically rice and french fries, on her list of no-nos.
"Kaya nga tatlong kutsara ng kanin lang ang kinakain ko kasi ayoko masyado kumain ng mga carbo," The Voice Kids alumna said.
"Kahit anong ulam iyan guys, puwede mo kainin iyan. Basta tatlong kutsara ng kanin.
"Mga potato fries... Goodbye, bawal iyan. Kahit favorite ko iyong fries, iniwasan ko iyan since lockdown.
"Pero hindi ko naman sinasabi na huwag tayo kumain ng mga ganoong pagkain. Iwasan lang natin iyong pagdalas ng pagkain ng ganoon..."
Elha also ate moderately.
"Kung ano kinakain mo, iyon lang. Iyon lang dapat."
One diet hack that Elha discovered was to eat from a bowl using chopsticks.
The Kapamilya talent explained, "Alam niyo ba kung bakit chopsticks, guys? Para sa akin, matagal ako kumain kapag chopsticks [ang gamit] ko.
"Kasi ganoon daw iyon. Kapag mabilis ka kumain, hindi mo feel na busog ka kasi nga ang bilis mo lang kinain iyong food mo. Pero kung kakainin mo siya na mabagal lang, mafi-feel mo na, 'Ay, busog na ako.'
"Plus, iinom ka pa ng tubig na madami. At puwede ka rin uminom ng tea. Isa iyan sa nakatulong sa detox ko."
Elha then underlined, "Dapat kailangan maging strict tayo kung gusto mo talaga makita iyong best results ng diet mo.
"And ikaw din naman ang makikinabang at the end kasi alam mo iyon? Ang happy mo lang na naka-accomplish ka ng something na hindi mo inaakalang magagawa mo nang ganoon ka-hirap ginagawa.
"Alam mo iyon guys, parang relieved ka? Pero doesn't mean na pumayat ka, dapat mo na i-stop ang pag-da-diet mo. Kailangan consistent ka."
Elha reminded her subscribers to consult with a nutritionist before starting any diet, noting that her personal diet plan may or may not work for others.
"Sa akin naging effective siya, pero mas maganda pa rin talaga na mag-consult muna tayo sa nutritionist natin o sa doctor kung okay ba ang diet na ito?
"Siyempre guys, ayoko naman na mapahamak kayo."
Elha wanted to see the effect of her diet and activities on her weight, so the 16-year-old singer-vlogger would get on the weighing scale many times throughout the day.
"Sobrang mino-monitor ko iyong timbang ko every time. As in, hindi ko mabilang kung gaanong karaming beses ako nagtitimibang.
"Kasi nga, gusto ko makita kung, pag-uminom ba ako ng tubig, ilang grams madadagdag sa akin?
"Kapag kumain ako ng kanin, ilang pounds ba madadagdag sa akin?"
The other benefit of monitoring one's weight on the scale, according to Elha: it tells her if there's a need to modify her routine.
At the time of the vlog's release, Elha was close to achieving her fitness goal, which is 100 pounds.
