Bagamat hindi na aktibo sa showbiz si Stef Prescott, marami pa ring fans ang nakasubaybay sa kanyang fitness journey.
Sa social media nito pino-post nito ang mga before-and-after photos ng kanyang progress mula sa naging heaviest weight niya na 220 pounds.
Simula raw noong nanganak siya sa unang baby nila ng asawang si JP Yap ay naging struggle na raw ni Stef ang pagbabawas ng timbang.
Sa vlog na in-upload niya noong June 17, 2020, aminado si Stef, "Tumaba ako nang sobra."
And though she made several attempts para pumayat since nagka-baby, "I'd been always restarting and starting and starting again..."
Sa exclusive interview sa kanya ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) through Fcebook messenger noong March 28, 2021, ang sabi niya, "My fitness journey has always been an on and off thing. Since becoming a mom, my weight has been a struggle."
Isang aksidente ang bumago sa buhay niya. She lost her footing and "shattered" her ankle and fibula or calf bone.
Dagdag na kuwento niya sa PEP.ph, "What really changed was when I broke my ankle last Feb 2020. I had to get surgery, and was bedridden for 2 months."
Finally, when she decided to start "walking again," hindi naman siya makalabas ng bahay.
"Naabutan ako ng lockdown while in bed.
"It made me realize so many things about my health and how I take my body for granted so much. I made the decision to turn my life around.
"Sabi ko, once I start walking again, I'm dedicating my life and fitness to honoring God. Giving Him glory through my works.”
FITNESS ROUTINE AND DIET
As soon as naka-recover siya mula sa kanyang surgery, sinimulan ng mother of two ang kanyang fitness journey.
Base sa kanyang unang post, May 2020 ito nangyari.
Una muna niyang binago ang kanyang mindset. She was not after the "look of her body" this time.
Sa kanyang vlog, binanggit niyang 120 pounds ang kanyang timbang bago nabuntis.
After giving birth to her first son in 2013, she was 198 pounds. When she gave birth to her second son in 2018, she was a "whopping 220 pounds."
Ang ginawa niyang goal: live healthy.
Since hindi siya makalabas ng bahay, bumili siya ng stationary bike, and "from then on, I've been on it every single day."
Sa tulong din ng kanyang husband, na isang fitness buff/ nutritionist/ physical therapist, nagkaroon siya ng sets of exercises.
Pagdating naman sa diet, what worked for her was "portion controlling" her food—including her favorite chips, sweets, and carbs.
Sa kanyang July 2020 vlog, kinuwento niya kung paano niya binago, gradually, ang kanyang eating habit.
Noong first week, ni-limit niya sa one cup per meal ang kanyang white rice, then ginawa niyang three-fourth cup, saka naging half a cup.
Next, "I stopped drinking like, you know, really sweet drinks, any juices with artificial flavorings, any sodas..."
Dinagdagan niya ang "fruits and vegetables," at ginawang mas simple ang kanyang protein source: mostly chicken at saka fish.
From time to time, kumakain pa raw siya ng mga "yummy treats" gaya ng cakes, but, paalala niya, "stop when you have enough."
June 2020: Stef lost 42 pounds in five weeks.
July 2020: Additional two pounds ang nawala, at nabawasan rin ang kanyang back fats at waistline
August 2020: Lumiit na ang kanyang size.
September 2020: "It's getting looser around the arms and waist."
October 2020: Hindi na siya yung "out-of-shape owner of a fitness company."
Fast forward to March 2021, a few days before her birthday, nakakapagsuot na si Stef ng crop top.
Hindi pa rin daw nawawala ang kanyang "thick thighs, cellulite, big behind," pero totally nag-stop na ang "doubting and hating" ng kanyang sarili.
On her 30th birthday last March 29, nagawa ni Stef na gawing positive ang negative.
Malaking bagay na "mentally strong" siya, at mas malakas ang kanyang motivation.
Sabi niya sa PEP.ph, "I wouldn't say I was depressed, but it was a big insecurity of mine.
"It gave me anxiety whenever I though about my health and dying young. I thought, baka di ko abutan mga apo ko pag di ako nagbago ng lifestyle.”
Ang laki rin ng contribution ni JP, na naging contestant sa Century Tuna Superbods in 2012 at sa Mr. Chinatown in 2013.
“My husband is my greatest supporter and inspiration. He is the one into fitness, and has taught me all I know."
Konti na lang ay maa-achieve na niya ang kanyang weight goal.
“To date, I have lost 61 lbs or around 28 kg. I'm looking to lose around 30 lbs more or 13 kg. This will put me at the healthiest weight for my height.”
Bilang pagtatapos, nag-iwan ng advice si Stef para sa mga mommies na gustong mag-start ng kanilang fitness journey.
Aniya, “Do small changes, consistently. Don't try to do everything perfectly.
"Don't try to give up rice or the foods you love. Just eat the proper portions, everything in moderation.
"Also exercise doesn't have to be intense. Even just going for a walk a few times a week is great."
