Solenn and Erwan Heussaff took part in the 40th Milo Marathon at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds on July 31.
The brother and sister tandem joined the 10-kilometer run which was a standard for both.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked about some pre-run practices to try, and was told that running on an empty stomach was the personal preference.
But the Kapuso star suggested, "People usually have banana or peanut butter."
It would be best to have a meal an hour or an hour and a half before the race.
When Erwan used to do triathlons, he would have a peanut butter and banana sandwich with coffee two hours prior the run.
On why it's best to run on an empty stomach, the chef/entrepreneur explained, "Your bodies are meant to work on empty because you have so much reserve from sleep.
"That’s stored energy, and people need to remember to use that. Because once you eat something before, then you are just using that."
Running on an empty stomach also reduces the tendency of getting side-stitches when running.
Solenn underlined, "You don’t want to go running and you feel pain."
For Erwan, he suggested to see the body functioning similarly to a car.
"What I usually tell people, it’s very important to see your bodies like a car. You just put gas on it, not all the time. You gas when you need it.
"Same thing with food on your body."
