Rich Asuncion (with boyfriend and business partner Ben Mudie) explains why she invested in her nail spa business: "Na-realize ko, ngayon kailangan natin i-ano yung sarili natin... Kailangan ang hygiene, i-pamper, lalo na stressful ang work, stressful ang paligid, traffic everywhere."

Rich Asuncion is now a businesswoman.

Her Nail Cocktales Hand and Foot Spa was opened and had its grand blessing on November 26, at the Sapphire Residences, 31st corner 2nd Avenue, Bonifacio Global City.

It's her venture with boyfriend Benjamin “Benj” Mudie, a member of the Philippine Volcanoes.

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment POrtal), the Starstruck graduate says, “Siyempre naman, alam nating showbiz is not forever, 'tsaka hindi naman siya laging meron, di ba?

“So talagang gusto ko rin ma-inspire yung iba na mag-invest in business.

“You think about the future.

“Kasi hindi mo masisigurado, nothing is for certain so you have to secure yourself, doing business, na kahit ano.

“Ito naman kasi, nakaya kong gawin dahil may mga kasama naman ako—yung boyfriend ko, yung family ng boyfriend ko.

“So ayun, I’m very thankful and I’m very blessed na nabigyan ako ng opportunity na magtayo ng business.”

A PLACE TO RELAX AND DE-STRESS. Why nail spa?

“Nail spa, because, first of all, friend ko yung franchise owner.

“It’s only a franchise, and, of course, nail spa kasi actually hindi ako masyadong kikay,” Rich laughed.

“Pero I know na kailangan natin 'yan.

“Na-realize ko, ngayon kailangan natin i-ano yung sarili natin...

“Kailangan ang hygiene, i-pamper, lalo na stressful ang work, stressful ang paligid, traffic everywhere,” she laughed again.

“So maraming bagay na nakaka-stress, so I want this place or business to be the place na makaka-relax kayo.

“Nail spa, may konting drinks, ganun.

“And, of course, yung passion namin is sa service kaya ako kumuha ng Tourism, so at least, dito magagamit ko yung natutunan ko.”

Rich is taking up Tourism at University of the Philippines in Diliman.

In a year's time, she'll finish the course.

“Ngayon hindi pa ako nakuntento. Showbiz, school, 'tapos ngayon, business.

“So too much on my plate right now, pero hindi ako nagsisisi.

“No regrets and I’ll just keep on doing my best, gagawin ko ang best ko na maging successful itong tatlong ito.”

Spotted during the opening and blessing were Encantadia star Glaiza de Castro and Sa Piling Ni Nanay lead actress Yasmien Kurdi.

NEW TELESERYE. Meanwhile, Rich has started taping for Ika-6 Na Utos, GMA-7's new afternoon drama series topbilled by Sunshine Dizon, Ryza Cenon, and Gabby Concepcion. It will start airing on December 5.

Also part of the show are Daria Ramirez, Mike Tan, and Marco Alcaraz.

“Siyempre yung family, of course, kasi itong show din namin talks about how to preserve your family, protect your family lalo na your relationship also.

“So iyon, marami silang matututunan sa show na ito.”

Rich will play Flor, the best friend of Emma played by Sunshine.

“Ako yung...dahil ang dami niyang problema at pagsubok na madadaanan, siyempre kailangan mo ng katuwang, kasandal.

“So ako yung magiging one of the sources of strength niya,” Rich said.
