GMA-7 actress Kris Bernal is frustrated she's getting negative comments for being skinny. But her fighting spirit prevails, "Tanggapin nalang nila na it's really my built," she tells PEP.

GMA-7 talent Kris Bernal revisited the decade of the '90s for Cosmopolitan Philippines' 20th Anniversary Party at Black Market in Makati City.

The 28-year-old actress rocked the party's theme wearing thigh-high white socks, pink heels, a figure-hugging crop top, booty shorts, and pink denim jacket casually half-worn.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) interviewed FHM Philippines' May cover girl a few minutes before the party, which officially started and told her that it would be about her fitness routine.

She immediately laughed before answering, "I don't think I can be a 'fitspiration' right now!"

However, Kris does had several thoughts to share about women like her who end up in either the extra small sectionor even the largest kids' sizes when shopping.

"For someone who has the same built as mine, who are very small, very thin, and small-boned, my fitness advice is to go to the gym but don't do a lot of cardio," Kris advised.

"Just do a lot of lifting weights so that you'll gain muscles and you will look more meaty, I mean, meatier and bulkier."

Kris said that she started going to the gym for both her health and overall look.

"Siguro, a year na rin ako consistently visiting the gym," she recalled.

SKINNY-SHAMING. Other celebrities who find the time to work out are praised, but not the Starstruck IV alumna, "Ngayon naman, lahat ng artista visit the gym so why can't I?

"Bakit bawal ako? Yung ganun."

She argued, "My body build, it's something you cannot change e, it's something that cannot be changed.

"Yung waistline naman, hindi naman naayos yan diba."

The Impostora star hopes that everyone will accept her lithe frame for what it is, "Tanggapin nalang nila na it's really my built," she told PEP.

"Before mas chubby ako, pero never naman nila ako nakita na sobrang tumaba eh or sobrang lumaki eh."

Kris explained she may not seem to have fat, but it does not mean she doesn't need to get fit.

The biggest challenge for people who have small frames is to bulk up and form their muscles, "I hope everyone will understand that I am making an effort to really gain weight and it's not easy."

Kris used to go the Star Danz Fitness Studio and was taught by the owner and Creative Director Lea Carla Santos.

Her frustration, "Kung gaano kahirap magpapayat, ganoon din kahirap magpataba or to get bigger!"

To help her bulk up, Kris plans to revisit an old favorite of hers: pole spinning and pole dancing.

Other than that, she doesn't want to change her current fitness routine.

"Gusto ko lang bumalik into pole dancing, nag-stop kasi ako nung nagsimula ang Little Nanay eh."

Kris headlined Little Nanay, which aired on the Kapuso network's primetime slot from November 2015 to March 2016.

She added, "It's more of toning din eh, toning your muscles, lifting yourself, yung core strength."

"Feeling ko makakatulong sa akin yun, walang treadmill, walang whatever, more on building muscles, talaga!"
