Before turning 30 on April 2, 2018, Ellen Adarna began going through a major lifestyle change, which included adopting a positive mindset.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) on August 8, at her endorsement launch of Frontrow, Ellen revealed that she had unhealthy habits and that she feared these would soon take their toll on her body.
Ellen said, "After nung last soap ko, it was Langit Lupa, talagang ano… I need to make time for myself. I'm turning 30 next year, and I need to be pretty next year."
NO MORE ALCOHOL. Undergoing a two-month alcohol detox program was part of her major lifestyle change.
Ellen related, "I went on a two-month detox on alcohol, but I still smoke.
"At least I cut alcohol, because mga siguro more than two years, I was drinking two glasses of wine four times a week, more or less."
She also linked her fondness for alcohol to all the "bad decisions" she made in her 20s.
The 29-year-old actress said, "All the wrong decisions, all the bad decisions that I made over the past few years is because of alcohol, because I was tuloy-tuloy, walang pahinga, walang balance."
After her daytime drama series Langit Lupa ended last April, Ellen began giving more time to her workouts.
The former Kapuso actress admitted, "I was always drinking, and then I gained so much weight doing soaps. I didn't work out.
"And when the show ended, that's it, 180-degree change."
Ellen added, "'Pag nag-soap ka, wala kang time sa sarili mo, so kain ka lang."
Part of her fitness routine today: Pilates and boxing.
She also sought the help of fitness trainer Alvin Abano to lose her unwanted pounds.
So far, so good.
People have been noticing the positive changes in Ellen since she started living a healthier lifestyle.
Ellen said, "Na-notice ng lahat ng tao na I lost weight, and may aura is different daw, parang, 'Ibang tao ka na!' ganyan...
"Not only that, yung pag-iisip ko, the way I think was also crystal clear."
