How Kim Chiu maintains her 26-inch waistline

Kim Chiu said she doesn't follow a certain diet program: "Wala akong sinusunod na diet kasi mahirap din mag-self deprive."

ABS-CBN actress Kim Chiu is our latest celebrity fitspiration.

The 27-year-old Kapamilya star has inspired many of her Instagram followers after finishing 32 kilometers of biking and running at the Pilipinas Duathlon Series 2018 Leg 1 held at Clark, Pampanga, on February 25.

She even managed to make it to 10th place in her age category.

Kim talked about her passion for her newfound hobby in an interview with (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other digital Summit Media titles.

The Star Magic talent said her role for her home network's now-defunct drama series Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin inspired her to be more physically fit through running and biking.

In the said series, Kim played the role of Bianca, a promising young triathlete and love interest of Gerald Anderson's character, a triathlete named Gabriel.

"Siguro yung teleserye namin, Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin, which ended early this year [ang nag-inspire sa akin]. Nagra-run kami doon, we do trainings ng bike, run, and swim.

"So na-in love ako sa bike and run. Swimming, not so, kasi natatakot ako sa open water. And yun yung pinakakinatatakutan ko, yung mamatay ako sa water.

"Yun talaga ang greatest fear in life, water."

On Tuesday, March 6, Kim and fellow Kapamilya star Paulo Avelino were named as the newest endorsers of Berroca at a press launch held at Early Night? in The Fort Strip, Bonifacio Global City.

Kim said participating in duathlons gives her a different kind of experience.

It is also her way of maintaining her 26-inch waistline.

She narrated, "Masaya kasi parang ang sarap ng experience to run and bike kasi it's way far from what I do in showbiz.

"Kasi parang doon pantay-pantay kami, we're all athletes, we're all sweating, we're all tired, hinihingal, and every thing.

"'Tapos yung camaraderie, parang everyone is so nice, everyone is so good parang lahat kayo nagmo-motivate with each other na, 'Go Kim! Go someone! Go kuya! Go ate!' mga ganyan-ganyan.

"So it's fun! 'Tapos whenever I cross the finish line lagi, parang naiiyak ako na, 'Oh my god, I finished it!'

"Parang, 'After so many kilometers, natapos ko 'to.'

"And then, it's rewarding to get a finisher's medal kasi parang it's proof you finished something on your own."

Kim just feels glad to have inspired her Instagram followers, "Masaya ako na parang whenever I post something, sa comments below they said na, 'Gusto ko rin maging ganyan!'

"'Tapos ita-tag nila yung friends nila na, 'Uy gawin din natin 'to.' Yung mga ganyan.

"Natutuwa ako na nai-inspire ko yung ibang mga tao.

"Last race nga wala akong training so parang may comment sa ilalim na, 'O, si Kim nga walang training natapos niya, tayo din tara, try natin.'"

But how is she able to squeeze running and biking into her hectic schedule?

Kim answered, "Para kasing nasanay na yung katawan ko, parang pag wala akong ginagawa...

"Siguro ganun na ngayon yung mga tao na parang hindi mo kayang humilata lang sa house one whole day.

"Parang sayang yung day if you're not gonna use it. Ako kasi yung taong laging on-the-go.

"Parang I can not just stay in the house and watch the whole season 1 of something or season 2 of something.

"May be I can watch mga three to four episodes, and then I'm gonna do mga ibang stuff na after that.

"I really want to keep my every day active like now, 3 p.m. yung call time so kaninang umaga, nag-spinning ako so parang may nangyari na sa day ko."

DIET. Unlike other fitness enthusiasts, Kim doesn't really follow a certain diet in order to maintain her waistline.

"Mahilig ako sa carbs like pasta, and then chips. I love chips! Breakfast ko na yun."

The Kapamilya actress further explained, "Wala akong sinusunod na diet kasi mahirap din mag-self deprive.

"Ide-deprive yung self mo na parang, 'Ay ang sarap nito!' Parang, 'My god, it's so good!'

"You just have to pay for it na lang through workout.

"Parang one cup of rice is equivalent to three kilometers of running."

When asked what her typical cheat meal is, Kim laughingly admitted, "Una, french fries, next is fried rice! Chowking Chao Fan! Oh my god, I love! Super!

"Aside from endorsing Chowking, I love Chao Fan with Shanghai, and Filipino spaghetti!
