Now 76, Susan Roces remains active in showbiz even if she does not really need to work. "Ang kaligayahan ko, magtrabaho, maglingkod not only for yourself but for the community, for the rest of the country, for the rest of the viewers, habang buhay," she says.

Susan Roces, 76, remains as regal as she was when showbiz gave her the moniker Queen of Philippine movies in the 60s.

At the renewal of her contract as the endorser of RiteMed on June 21, she reveals her beauty secret.

First, the widow of the late Fernando Poe Jr. believes in aging gracefully.

"It's accepted, lahat ng tao, tumatanda pero, siguro, salamat na lang sa Panginoon, at kung anong wrinkles meron ako ay happy wrinkles.

"Hindi beauty product ang Ritemed, pero dahil siguro maingat ako sa kalusugan ko."

Addressing the veteran entertainment editors and columnists who witness her eight contract-signing with the brand, the Kapamilya star continues, "I'm being very careful like all of you, magkababata naman tayong lahat dito, e, karamihan sa atin.

"Nagsisimula pa lang kasi ako, kayo na ang nandiyan, halos sabay-sabay tayo."

The room vibrates with laughter.

Next, she stresses the importance of rest and sleep.

"Bilang artista, siyempre ang aming working hours ay hindi regular so salamat na lang sa aking manager, kay Dolor [Guevarra], kay Shirley [Kuan], na iniingatan din nila na kung anuman ang sasagutin kong mga kontrata sa ginagawa kong acting pieces, whether it's a telenovela or a one-time guest appearance in Maalaala Mo Kaya series o whatever, na hindi lumalampas ng 12 midnight."

Smiling, she adds, "Nagpapaka-Cinderella."

DIET. Lastly, she takes good care of herself by watching her food intake.

"Importante na alam natin kung paano natin aalagaan ang mga bagay na may kinalaman sa kalusugan natin.

"Like our diet, I don't go for fad diets. I just taste.

"At my present age, I taste every thing. I do not indulge."

The well-respected actress goes on recalling her doctor's answer after she asked, "Doctor, ano ho ba ang dapat na way na pakainin ang mga bata para hindi nila makasanayan masyado?"

Inday (her nickname) wanted to know how she could teach proper diet to children, most likely her three grandchildren with Senator Grace Poe.

"Kasi para bang pag natikman na nila yung ganung klaseng pagkain, hinahanap-hanap na nila hanggang sa pagtanda nila, only to realize na nagkaka-diabetic, lalo na Filipino meals dahil maraming carbo.

"Sabi ng doctor, 'Lahat ng masarap, tanggalin mo.'"

Susan further talks about the "bawal masarap" diet, which elicited chuckles from the press.

"Puwede kang kumain ng kahit gaano karaming seafoods pero alisin mo ang aligue ng alimango.

"Huwag mong kakainin yung ulo ng hipon. Huwag kong kakainin ang taba ng tiyan, ng bangus.

"Ang litson, hindi na tayo natuto [sa] lechon..."
