Jodi Sta. Maria assures her health is fine amid concerns about her weight loss

Jodi Sta. Maria to netizens who jumped to conclusions about her weight: "Just because the person is thin doesn't mean he or she is anorexic."


Jodi Sta. Maria assured her fans that she is taking good care of her health.

This came on the heels of the netizens' concern about her weight.

Some commented she is getting too thin.

Some even assumed she has become anorexic.

They've been telling Jodi to put on weight and stop dieting.

But Jodi said her fans need not worry about her.

She also cautioned everyone not to jump to conclusions.

“Well may nagsasabi na I’m too thin daw, ganun," she said in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and Cinema News on the set of her morning teleserye, Sana Dalawa Ang Puso, in Antipolo on June 13.

"But I hope lang na we become a bit careful lang on putting labels kung ano yung current state ng body ng isang tao.

"Just because the person is thin doesn’t mean he or she is anorexic, or it doesn't mean na kapag medyo overweight siya, obese.

"We have to be more careful in using terms, and I hope we just stop labeling people just because hindi nila napi-fit yung idea on what a healthy looking person should look like."

Addressing her fans, she said, “Dun sa mga taong concerned I just want to assure you that I am okay. I’m not naman, iniisip ninyo na because I’m thin, I’m sick or I’m weak. No."

She explained her body is just adjusting to the changes she made to her diet.

"It’s just that I’ve done adjustments with my diet, meaning kung ano ang kinakain ko every day, it’s more really on fruits and veggies.

"I refrain from food na matataas ang refined sugar and refined starches, so yun siya. Mas maayos yung food ko ngayon compared noon."

Jodi also explained why she made this choice.

"I’m not getting any younger and I want to really take care of my body.

"Kung yung mga tao nagse-say nga na you’re so thin, thank you for your concern, but I just wanna assure you that everything is okay.

"Naggawa lang ako ng adjustments. I used to go to the gym, but right now tight talaga yung schedule.

"But I do a lot of brisk walking sa village pag walang ginagawa. Di ako regularly nakakapunta sa gym ngayon.”

BALANCED LIFE. The important thing is she has the energy to do the things she wants to do, and gets to spend time with the people who matter to her.

“It really depends what you treasure is. Some of us, we treasure our family.

"Some of us we treasure our work, some of us treasure relationships regardless kung what kind.

"Some of us treasure careers or money, some of us treasure studies also.

"For me it has to be a balance of everything."

Everything? Is there nothing else missing in her life?

"Missing? No, I am okay, I’m very good. I’ve been busy with a lot of things.

"With work, with school, the foundation that I support, mothering to Thirdy."

Jodi then elaborated about her Instagram Live sessions.

"I’ve been busy with my IG Live every Tuesdays, please watch it.

"We tackle different topics. We have tackled mental health for four Tuesdays.

"Now we’re doing leftover meals, sa mga nagtitipid na mga mommies, that’s what we do.

"Kung ano yung mga leftover nung kinagabihan, kung ano ang puwedeng gawing meal the following day."

What advice can Jodi give about a lasting and successful relationship? 

The actress replied, "If you are a viewer and you will ask how a relationship lasts then I’ll say there has to be commitment and loving is a choice.
