"Habang tumatagal, lalong sumasarap," quipped JM de Guzman when asked to describe himself if he were a shawarma.
He even teased Pilipino Star Ngayon Entertainment Editor Salve Asis, whose question was about his screen partner Barbie Imperial.
His eyes smiling, JM said, "Ayan tayo, e. Sabi ko na, e. Iniintay ko lang [ang question na iyan]."
He was in high spirits at his launch as the face of JM Shawarma, which was founded in General Santos City and now has 100 stores nationwide.
"It's a milestone for me. Lalo lang akong nai-inspire," the Star Magic talent said.
Love, however, was the farthest thing from his mind. In fact, at the time of the interview, he had no plans for Valentine's Day.
"Yun nga po. Yung blessings na binibigay sa akin, kailangan kong pagtuunan ng pansin.
"Kailangan ng 100 percent to reach my goals and for my family. Gaya nito, may JM Shawarma.
"Akalain mo yung initials ko, kapangalan pa ang isang brand. I feel lucky. I am grateful."
Set to be the lead star opposite Arci Munoz in a soap and the lead star in the movie The Last Fool Show, JM is on a roll.
But he admitted to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) he still has his "sad days."
He said, "Actually, ganun talaga, e. Na-realize ko, meron talagang araw na down ka na.
"Kahit ikaw siguro, di ba, may araw na parang malungkot ka lang."
How does he deal with it? JM said, "Iniisip ko na lang... hindi parang nakakaawa because of these things.
"It’s God’s way of training you siguro to be stronger. Yun na lang iniisip ko, ganun.
"Kahit mahirap, kahit may internal struggle, kung yung faith mo hindi nawawala.
"So, yun yung nagpapatayo sa akin, saka yung paparating pang blessings.
"Parang there's always something to look forward to tomorrow, ganun."
"Martial arts" have also kept him busy and motivated.
He ended, "I practice Muay Thai, boxing, and wrestling. Minsan sa pagod mo, wala ka nang time malungkot.
"Hahahaha. Busy ako para maging sad."
