Jericho Rosales and his wife Kim Jones found joy in decluttering their home during this quarantine.
Although, same as most house makeovers, this requires a lot of work, Jericho says it was gratifying.
"Akala mo wala kang magagawa, hindi ka magiging busy kasi nagka-lockdown.
"Then doon mo ma-ri-realize... nandoon pala iyong bahay mo, ang rami mong lilinisin," the Kapamilya actor said.
"May background si Kim ng interior architecture.
"Funny because habang nagla-lockdown, ito iyong chance namin mag-rearrange ng bahay, mag-ayos ng walls, kung anu-ano...
"Siguro nagkaroon kami ng around 200 sessions ng spring cleaning.
"So if you get to visit the house, makikita mo wala na kaming gamit dito.
"Pinamigay na namin, dinispose na namin lahat.
"I only have a few pair of shirts. Wala na kaming halos gamit sa living room."
For the furniture pieces that no longer spark joy, the couple decided to hand them over to some members of their families and friends.
Jericho continued, "Our family members and our friends are so happy kasi ang rami naming tinambak. Ang rami naming pinamigay na gamit.
"'Tapos tinanggal namin iyong mga sahig, tinanggal namin iyong mga cabinets, as in basically winasak namin iyong buong bahay.
"Ginawa na lang namin super, super minimal kasi we just realized that, 'Ay ito lang pala ang kailangan natin, e.'
"So it's really nice."
Jericho was interviewed by PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press during the virtual conference of Star Magic: Love From Home on June 20, 2020.
FAVORITE SPOTS IN THEIR HOME
Jericho and Kim's house was designed by his best friend Architect Buji Libarnes in 2005.
It was described by realliving.com.ph as a spacious all-white minimalist structure where "neutrals, wooden elements, and a homey atmosphere dominate."
During the Love From Home presscon, Jericho said that one of his favorite spots in their modern abode is their relaxing pool.
He added, "I also love the kitchen, just like a lot of people.
"I love the kitchen not because I'm cooking, but because Kim's cooking, and I'm eating.
"And gusto ko rin iyong lababo kasi lagi akong naghuhugas ng plato."
Being at home during the pandemic also gave Jericho, 40, and Kim, 32, the opportunity to add more greenery to their resort-like property.
"So, basically, just going around the house, natuto kaming magtanim ng kung anu-ano dito sa bahay," he remarked.
STAYING AT HOME IS A LUXURY DURING THE QUARANTINE
Aside from revamping their home, the real luxury for Jericho during quarantine was staying at home.
He elaborated, "Para sa akin, staying at home is a luxury, e.
"Kasi kaming mga artista, parati kaming hinahatak palabas ng bahay. Lagi kang hahatakin.
"Kahit anong gawin mo, magi-guilty ka kasi you're saying no to jobs.
"So having a gym here at home—pinag-ipunan mo iyong mga ganyan—mga essentials sa bahay, and having the time to stay at home for me is like, okay I don't want to say this, pero these are the things that I'm happy and I'm grateful for.
"That I see now the value of my family, my friends, and myself, and my time, and to be able to meditate in the morning and in the evening."
