Did you know Piolo Pascual almost didn't join showbiz because of his mom?
At her first sit-down interview with Magandang Buhay on May 25, Amelia "Amy" Pascual revealed, "Ayoko talaga.
"Parang naguguluhan ako sa mundo, walang privacy.
"E, kasi yung pamilya namin, importante sa amin yung privacy."
Piolo was 11 years old when he was introduced to the world of theater.
Four years later, he became part of That's Entertainment.
But his journey to fame was cut short when he studied full time in University of Santo Tomas, and migrated to the U.S. with his family.
Amy continued, "Humingi siya ng bakasyon, two weeks. Pagdating dito, tumawag, 'Mommy, nag-sign ako ng contract.'"
She was adamant.
But Piolo told her, "Hindi puwede, madedemanda ako pag hindi ko itinuloy."
Amy went ballistic.
"So galit na galit ako.
"Sabi niya, 'Mommy, give me five years.'"
His "five years" is actually "22 years" this 2016.
From acting, he also tried singing. From primetime TV series, he also became a box-office movie star.
YOUNG PIOLO. Back wehn Piolo was a kid, did she see have an inkling he'd one day become a star?
But when she had the chance to watch Piolo's mvie, and girls were screaming.
“Ay, proud na proud ako!” she exclaimed.
From the U.S., Mommy Amy returned home to attend the premiere night Piolo's movie, Love Me Tomorrow, under Star Cinema.
MAMA'S BOY? No, he is not.
“Malambing. It’s only lambing.”
Did she ever spank him?
It was during this time that Piolo joined the convo.
He threw in, "There was one time nasa kapitbahay kami, nataong sa court sa tapat namin na condominium 'tapos may pasayaw doon sa court.
Amy's way of disciplining her children was, “Kailangan lahat sila."
On good thing that came out of that: they learned how to take good care of each other.
“...Ngayon ang tendency, pinoprotektahan nila ang isa’t isa. Kasi lahat sila, dadapa.
All her children are close, “Sobra, sobra!”
Piolo added, “May ginawa si Mommy. Yung mga pusod namin, pinagdikit-dikit niya.”
It's a known Pinoy superstition, which Amy followed.
MESSAGES FOR EACH OTHER. The show did not end with out the two giving messages for each other.
Piolo told his mom, “Just stay happy. Si Mommy kasi ayaw na niyang magka-love life, e.
“Mas gusto na niya ng ganito. So whatever comes, whoever comes, we’ll always be here for you.
“And no matter what happens, hangga’t kaya mo pa Mommy, I’ll take you around and, you know, we’ll do it for you because we love you.”
Amy became emotional when it was her turn to say something.
“Alam niyo, wala na akong mahihiling pa.
“Talagang he is the kind of son that every mom should have.
“Very grounded, mabait, madasalin, disciplined, mapagmahal sa kapatid, at saka mapagmahal sa pamilya.
“At saka he puts himself always last.”
