What's keeping Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio from accepting showbiz projects

Rica Peralejo's last acting role was in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya back in 2012.

In the 90s, Rica Peralejo was among the busiest teen stars on television.

From teen-oriented shows, she went on to prove her acting mettle in primetime teleserye.

These days, Rica practically considers that phase of her life a thing of the past.

“Oo, I really tend to forget because I like being normal.

“Maybe that’s one of the reasons why I like to travel a lot because I like normalcy,” the former child star told the press, including PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

She also made a confession.

“I’ve been in the business for more than twenty years, but I really don’t feel comfortable na parang hinahabol-habol ako.

“I really feel like, 'Bakit niyo ako hinahabol? My gosh, parang ako lang kayo!' Ganyan!"

Isn't she wasting the talents God has given her?

"I can act, I can sing, so maybe if for a good project, I would.

"I can do movies, but it has to be a really good project or even a TV show, talk show is good.

“I don’t have a problem with that kasi madali lang sa ’kin."

But the caveat: “The primary concern lang kasi for now is scheduling.

“If it doesn’t fit the schedule with my family, then I really can’t do it.

“So family is first, that’s the reason why I usually say no."

My happiest so far. My life is full as God's daughter, Joseph's wife and Philip's mom. ?????? #mrsbo #mamawonders

GROWING UP IN SHOWBIZ. In a quick one-on-one chat with PEP, Rica elaborated on how she has grown to greatly appreciate the quieter life.

Ironically, her realizations can be traced back to her work as an actress.

She said, “It’s really given me wisdom and maturity that is beyond my years because you just have to fight in that kind of world.

“And it’s not an easy world, it will require you to be confident more than usual.

“It will require you to be bold, I mean, it will really stretch you out of your comfort zone.

“So bata pa lang ako, I started at twelve years old, so you can just imagine.

“That is actually one of the shaping years of a person, and I was already thrown…

“Kunyari, parang tinapon ka sa malalim na dagat and you just have to swim, right? That’s what it did for me."

Her years as an active actress had paid off because they molded Rica into the person she is today.

"In a way, I found it so much of a blessing because I have a deeper appreciation for things.

“I have a platform right now which I can rely on, which other people are just planning to do, you know, in their 30s.

“Ako, twelve pa lang kasi ako, I’ve been working on that na.

“So it’s a gift to me that I can relax now as a mom."
